I find some peoples insistance on painting him as some kind of Jesus like saviour who gave his life to "save" us rather nauseating.

At most, maybe he can appear as a essence spirit of himself, or something of a different form, but not back in a physical form. He basially sent us forth to continue to battle for Erozea, sacrificing himself.
