Somewhere in here they talk about adding in more animations.

They won't be like 1.0 animations, but I imagine they'll be smaller ones added in, like your feet moving when you turn around instead of your character swirling on the spot.

No, they dont talk about adding more animations at all. The only animation talk is:
    1. The coeurl animation is not finished
    2. The hair animations are not finished.

Please find a valid and official source before making people think something that could be very well incorrect.

I am fine with people complaining asking them to sort it, but to say its going to be sorted and to not worry, this is very misleading as it could very well not change (as stated by previous dev post, its intentional the animations are how they are).

The following is from the recent complaint about the constant squat animations for buffs.

Furthermore from the Letter from the Producer Live Part IV Q+A:

Q3: Will my characters chest be bouncy?
A3: If you are an expert in this area, you will most likely understand, but they will ... *boing* *boing*

As of time of this post it seems as if the transitional animations have been replaced for more combat oriented animations. The addition of boob physics seems superfluous to some players. Since Rukkirii mentioned that the animations were removed because they didn't add to gameplay some players are upset at the inclusion of boob physics as they aren't seen as crucial to gameplay.

Physics and Animations two different things, the boobs will likely be done by bone physics.

Also the original quote is about animations in battle when doing actions, as right now you "Squat" when you do actions. This has nothing to do with movement animations but action animations.

People need to focus on constructive complaints about movement animations in order to hopefully have them fixed, rather than state everything will be a-ok XD

Animations are animations, whether they are combat or non combat. If you read Rukkirii's post it actual cites that gameplay changes were the reason for the exclusion of the transitional animations. Furthermore, Featherfoot is considered an animation used in battle, hence my connection to battle animations taking precedent over non battle animations.

Boob physics still requires resources. Players who don't see this as important are confused as people who don't see transitional animations as important are also confused. Physics happens locally but so can animations. Positions is what is shared between the local machine and the servers. This is why there is a connection being made.

Make animations locally instead of via the server. Casting times and positions are the only pertinent information in this regard to gameplay not animations. Animations should still be able to be retained on the local level, as would boob physics.

Since after that "final event" and especially after live letter (with the most stupid presentation I've ever seen) all what I'm gonna say doesn't matter, don't bother starting polemics. This is my very last post on this topic.

Some ppl still don't get why we are so worried about animation. Guess 'cause they don't understand, that it's not about animation only, or being picky, or whatever. IT IS about sense of style in general!

Sure, at launch XIV was a failure, but the game had basement (I'm not talking about technical side), and after 2 years of building on it we have (god, we had) the game we love.

Try do that with GW for example. It is boring piece of shit now and will be the same. Cause that game is just empty.

As for XIV, devs from the beginning gave the game some kind of... warmth. It's not on the surface, it's inside, it's subtle, and human-like animation is an expression of that feeling, first thing you notice when you see your character.

In the end, every game isn't about animation or any other technical aspect, it's about magic, that makes you love it from the first sight, kind of magic that XIV 1.0 definitely had. If you see it in ARR, then maybe I'm blind, 'cause all what I see so far is another "top tier" mmo.

    One more thing.
Think of it like: why classic Prince of Persia is a great game, and all modern ubisoft's princes just a bunch of cripples.
And that's why I hate Bethesda for what they did to Fallout.

    Thanks for your time.

I don't know what kind of first sight you had of FFXIV but I did not have love at first sight with it. I saw the biggest disappointment I've ever had in a game and the pretty animations didn't do much to save it.

Don't think you understand the point of the thread (and the rest).

The complaint is about missing animations, also you don't play animations on the server, where you getting this from? It doesn't even make sense... If a character moves from position x to y the local side will deal with the full animation, its not played on the server...

Doesn't even matter about any of that because no one knows why they took them out other than "To focus on gameplay". You can come up with excuses as to why and explanations of how to solve it but it's moot because im I sure they know what they're doing and you don't know what they're doing behind the scenes.

The problem I have with some people here is they're throwing statements around like "its alpha" and "it will be fixed in beta" when clearly the most recent dev post regarding the matter states they were intentionally removed, so why people are so positive it will be fixed is beyond me.

Just because I quote you doesn't mean I disagree with you. I also don't think they should just "let it be" just because it's alpha.

The Rukirrii explanation as to why they got rid of the transitional animations is cited directly in the quote form Rukirrii. They got rid of the transitional animations because they are focused on gameplay. Nothing more there to understand.

Despite removing transitional animations, they are still adding other battle related animations, as referenced by the next quote from Rukirrii.

Do us a favor. Read those two quotes and don't add any commentary from this thread and come to your own conclusion. If you understand English you'll realize they are getting rid of some animations and adding others regardless of the reason. That is what is happening thus far.

My post was merely a summation of that.
