The "twelve" is a real-world religion? Sorry but that is like saying the Jedi and the Sith are real world...

Real-world religion implies that our characters are christian, buddhist, muslim etc etc, which is false.

I find it amazing that people still say "No marriages for anyone because I don't want one". Seriously, what is your problem people? Don't like others to enjoy themselves? As you all keep coining the phrase, I'll use it myself, "It's a game". Maybe you don't understand that other people actually enjoy this s**t? I know I would.

I hope you don't think that is what I meant. I'm married. I just mean that it should be a strictly religeous institution. As such, governing entities (or gaming companies) should create an environment where things like weddings are not systemic so you can be free to create your own without opinions bringing it to a debate. For instance, providing wedding gear that anyone can buy and instanced chapel areas that anyone can create a party and access for whatever your purpose seems like a grand solution. Then there isnt a need for the institution to condemn or condone the practice.

Not you in particular. I've been skimming past this thread since I left it quite a few pages back and I am referencing those stating: "We shouldn't have marriages at all because I personally don't like the idea." or something along the lines of that.

It's like if I said we shouldn't have new jobs because I don't like them.

I feel you, the amount of selfish and MEFIRST thinking on these forums in general is quite sad.
People seem to forget that while the playerbase may not be overwhelmingly huge, it is certainly diverse and therefore should cater to as many tastes as possible instead of the tastes of just Xxsephirothxx.

I completely agree, it's ridiculous to hear people say this thread is useless.
I really don't see why people expect them to focus so hard on specific things and have this game so narrow and shallow. Why not add marriage? Because they think it's a waste of dev time to make the game more diverse and interesting? In game marriage can only add to the games diversity and allowing same sex marriage not only add more diversity but would be a PR boost to SE, as the LGBT community is much more widely accepted and common in the MMO community than people think. I'm no expert on marketing, but I just don't see them losing figures over this and the amount of praise they would get for it would be by far more than the backlash. Not only do we have a poll with a highly debated topic here that proves the support and a thread showing support on the JP side (if I recall correctly) but we have actual evidence that MMO's and other games that have same sex marriage get praised for it.

This is an the stupidest statement in this topic. It has to be joke?! This game is not about getting married. This is a PvE game currently adding new jobs is content. Marriage is "timefillertoapeasetherpger". You don't play this game to get married, you play this game to level, get gear, fight bosses. If you want to play a game to get married I'd recommend Sims. Or if you want to use this game as an expensive chat room thats your choice.

But content is something that betters the game and brings variety. Marriage is fluff content, it does nothing the actually game play. You never hear top game reviewers talking about, "OMG MARRIED IN THIS GAME IS DA BEST, oh ya there is some classes but THE MARRIAGE is where its at."

And the "MEFIRST" and "selfish" people are the people wanting fluff content over actually content. Even those yes this game is diverse this content is a be all end.

I'm for having the content, I don't think something so simple and most likely meaningless in the game will really take much away from dev time. I mean the content won't have any benefit to being married vs not. The main reason the option for not having it was stated was because of the conflict it caused.

If people are so opposed to the idea of same sex marriage and can't compromise by just calling it a different name or some other good solution. Then the best option would be not to have it. Instead of pissing off a whole side by having it and keeping opposite sex or having it and doing same sex. If people can come to agreement then thats the best option if they can't then not having it is the second best option. That is the thinking of that option.

But please don't statements like this ridiculous "don't add new classes because I don't like them" to this argument because it is far from the same thing. For the record saying "don't add new holiday events because I don't like them" is in the same orbit of a marriage event. About that level of unimportant.
