Really don't see a point in game marriage on either side just play the role in game as a married couple don't need a contract or paperwork to prove your love for each other actions speak louder than any written document.

This thread's not really about marriage as a whole. If they weren't implementing it at all then this would be fine. The problem I have is that they're implementing it but restricted. Not fair to a number of their paying customers.

Thread would have never happened as Arcell states without SE saying "SM allowed, SSM we dont know - what do you think?"
Thought this too - but thinking about how FF is more about the journey with friends and loved ones (specially recent and most popular ones) that adding features to encourage and embellish the greatest parts of what FF means, I think it is necessary and a great choice. I hope they continue to add features that make the world more "wholesome/hearty".
Though of course we should put priority on game (play) content right now as I'm sure everyone agrees lol.

well to be honest if 2 guys/2girls want to get "married" we know for sure there will be chapels in the game.
Just go to one with your friend, make the ceremony yourself and consider married when you deem you are
end of story
no need for NPC to marry you, ask your LinkShell leader to do it
then celebrate by killing 100 mobs in your 2-people party![]()

First off, if it's restricted to opposite sex couples for a GM or NPC to preside over the wedding, then it's a slap in the face to same sex couples.well to be honest if 2 guys/2girls want to get "married" we know for sure there will be chapels in the game.

It's another slap if it's like how FFXI marriages originally were, with rings only being available to opposite sex couples.
Its yet another slap if the chapel is only enterable during GM sanctioned marriages, as FFXI's marriage sites were.
No one really cares if they make it so it's not called marriage. No one cares if you can just get rings and dresses/tuxedos and make your own player weddings. People care only if something is implemented that opposite-sex couples can partake in but not same-sex couples. THAT is the issue people have.
If GM sanctioned weddings are in the game, or if there's things like rings in the game, they need to be available to all couples, or they shouldn't be implemented at all. To do so is to segregate part of your community.

Really don't care if they do or not do same gender marriage, but I also think if the company doesn't want it that there choice and people lgbt should respect that. That also is true for straight people if the company supports lgbt then we should respect that choice both sides have to respect each other's views I no that hard in today's world though can thank the mass media imo. Be thankful your not living in other countries they would burn you alive over there you have it allot better here if the argument is over marriage over a mmo game.
That post was on page 33 >.> for the love of god lol...

If Yoshida gives us a response that he's seen the player demand and considered the alternative options and he still won't do it then I'll deal with it. I mean it doesn't actually negatively affect me at all, I'm just here for those who it will hurt. I mean it's his game and if he really feels that he doesn't want to or can't remove the restriction then I'll keep playing but I'll be a bit disappointed.Really don't care if they do or not do same gender marriage, but I also think if the company doesn't want it that there choice and people lgbt should respect that. Create your own topic then. This thread was created for marriage feedback in relation to the same sex marriage restriction. The title simply says marriage feedback but the OP and poll posts are strictly about the restriction. If you actually feel that this should be added, no one is stopping you from creating your own thread.Of course, since people want 'gay' marriage, I assume polygamy is also wanted, because no one's asking for just 'their' pet likes to be implemented, are they. Polygamy is practiced in many parts of the real world.
I doubt however the pro-gays will be pushing for that social variant though.

If a person, feels hurt do to rules and boundaries set IN A VIDEO GAME, than that person may need to adders bigger issues in there life. Which are in no turn related to said VIDEO GAME. Yoshi-P has bigger fish to fry then this.. He does NOT owe you an reason, or options, or anything, stay if you like, go if you don't...If Yoshida gives us a response that he's seen the player demand and considered the alternative options and he still won't do it then I'll deal with it. As well there's zero you can do one way or another, AS WELL considering it "doesn't actually negatively affect me at all" (your words). Why do you even give a damn.
All you are doing is giving good people a bad side, so for the preservation of the peace mod's should lock AND remove this and any subsequent threads relating to this.

There are reasons the LGBT members have been fairly prevalent in this subject... Specificaly in relation to restrictions and promises. When DOMA was created we were told "Hey we're going to define marriage in the constitution... but... in return we will give you all something with the same rights and a different nameIf a person, feels hurt do to rules and boundaries set IN A VIDEO GAME, than that person may need to adders bigger issues in there life. Which are in no turn related to said VIDEO GAME. Yoshi-P has bigger fish to fry then this.. He does NOT owe you an reason, or options, or anything, stay if you like, go if you don't...

Then the giant maw of DOMA snapped shut and we waited for our equivalent option... a legal version of marriage... Honestly, it didn't come. It Never did. I work as a some what junior counselor for my colleges LGBT Resource center. I normally have to council suicidal LGBT students most often because their parents kicked them out. One case though brought this to a furious subject to me. A couple was married in New York and (as advertised) Florida was offering LGBT Honeymoon get aways, the marriage isn't legal here however. They had their honeymoon here because they were both going to attend my college. I had to counsel him through something I should not have had to counsel. His husband was hit by a car, the ambulance took him to a religious based hospital, and he wasn't aloud to see his husband at all because he was not direct family or a spouse.
It was broken promises that led to the attitude of a push for marriage, not being able to see our spouses final moments is a cruel fate... it's like a parent dying and not getting to say a last I love you or goodbye.
So, I apologize that this topic has been so... urged upon, in this forum however, this attitude was born from a broken promise. If you dislike the topic, leave it. don't read it. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO CLICK THE LINK. Your hand in fact is clicking that link.

By hurt I didn't mean actually hurt, I just meant negatively affected (as in being told they're not allowed to use a feature of the game they're paying for.)If a person, feels hurt do to rules and boundaries set IN A VIDEO GAME, than that person may need to adders bigger issues in there life. Which are in no turn related to said VIDEO GAME. Yoshi-P has bigger fish to fry then this.. He does NOT owe you an reason, or options, or anything, stay if you like, go if you don't...

If it doesn't actually negatively affect me at all why do I care? Because I don't see it as fair to allow some people to use a feature of a game and others not just because of their character's genders. Because I care about people other than myself and I can see why they should be allowed to do this. I will still be able to use the marriage feature but others won't and that doesn't sit right with me.
He doesn't owe me anything you're right, however I would appreciate it if he did give us something. He's been very open and vocal with the community so I hope that continues with this issue as well as others. I've never said that he must give us a response, I only ask.
Giving good people a bad side? On this forum? Lol. All I'm doing is speaking up for marriage equality. Nothing more, nothing less. There are far worse threads on these forums that have been allowed to stay open. I don't think this one is threatening to destroy the "peace" on the forums. Let the mods decide if they should lock this or not, you aren't one so you have no say in the matter.
