Same Sex Marriage

It has no effect on gameplay.

When these Q&As happen; I wish people would take into consideration as to how many people their question is going to affect. Although I wouldn't mind if same sex marriage were on the table, the VAST majority of the XIV playerbase is not going to take part or even care about this issue. We know SE cherry picks their questions for these events, so it falls on the community to govern ourselves.

Kudos though, this is the proper place to discuss/petition for the issue. If this topic gains enough views it will be brought to his Yoshi's attention yet again.


TL;DR : Stop being ignorant/selfish in the Q/A sessions.

Many MMO's moved on to allow it. SE May "It doesn't matter the opionion of others, especially in an open MMO fantasy world).

Sadly other areas of the world have moved beyond the issue faster then the United states (minus some Arab naatiosn who have barbaric concepts).

Speaking of ingame marriage in general, disregarding whether it's opposite or same sex marriage, I think people read too much into it. It's just an additional activity that some people might find fun. Just like not everyone cares about gathering or crafting, seasonal events, relic weapons or grinding dungeons for Darklight pieces or housing. I personally find all the non-battle activities available to be a lot of fun, but I also participate in adrenaline driven content as well.

I honestly thought SE knew better by now. Looking at some of the NPCs in-game I thought SE was avoiding discrimination rather than promoting it. :\ Was proud of them for that.
I suppose we're just going to have to deal with REAL LIFE religious views effecting what we do in a GAME that has nothing to do with it.
Disappointed and perhaps lost some respect for them... I'm sure there are plenty of other games out there I could play that treat people equally.

Though I haven't lost all hope. Maybe Square Enix will come to their senses and change their stance—swiftly.

As many others have said before, either do it right or don't do it at all. Doing it half-heartedly in a discriminatory way is the worst option of all options out there—unfortunately now that the question has been asked and an answer has been given, that option doesn't exist anymore. Make it right. Now.
