    Familiar for lag issues?

I just bought the game and installed it. I noticed right off the bat during character creation I was getting a very delayed response to anything I was selecting. Once in the game the videos ran like stills that run approx 15 seconds behind the sound. Press any key to move and 15 seconds later the character moves and it's super choppy. The data transfer also shows as less than 20 either way.

    System
    Vista Home Premium 32 SP2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 4800+
(contributing factor that I noted) 2G of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 250M memory running the latest driver 8.17
    Qwest DSL 100 Mbps

Use the recommended settings and it looks good but runs horribly, knock it all the way down to the lowest settings (external config program) and it both looks and runs horribly. In game config I have almost everything turned off that would effect memory and processor load. All the while no change in performance. Same applies to standard settings as well as you can guess.

Aside from bumping up my RAM is there anything there that stands out to anyone that knows a fair amount about this technical and spec related business that would be reasonable to upgrade or needs to be? A new PC is not in the budget any time soon nor would a PS3 for whenever that launch ends up being.

Same question, new thread...and I apologize for that. Trying to translate more technical answers to questions that may not exactly be what I'm experiencing is difficult on a couple of levels.

Aside from there already being a slight delay in most of the actions within the game. The only thing I can think of just looking at your specs quickly are that you dont meet he 510 recommended RAM on your Nvidia.
If I remember correctly anyway.. lol

2.5GHz on the processors too, missed that. I'll have to look into the graphics card and memory for sure. I benchmarked at a whopping (pure sarcasm at its best) 86 85238 ms load time. I'm not a PC tech, but hopefully I can either stumble my way through upgrading these items myself or give my tower away for a week to let the Geek Squad do 'er up for me.

The integrated GPU on your motherboard is woefully underpowered when it comes to FF XIV (so far below minimum requirements that it is not even funny), which you already found out, there is nothing you can do to make the game run well on that.
Depending on you expectations on how well and the detail you want to run the game it, you might be looking at a new PC all together, as it sounds like your HDD is slow, and you probably do not have a PSU capable of running a decent video card.

I'll find out this next week. I'm going to see if I can free up the funds to drop $400 into a new GeForce GTX 460 1G VRAM (I was looking at it at B.B. so I hope I have the exact model) and 2 more gig of RAM. I'll see if it all works out or not. I won't go forward with it if the motherboard or PS won't handle the graphics card.
There's always a chance it will work fine too, the overall PC itself is only 3 years old and technically long overdue for an upgrade.

Remember to take PSU wattage into consideration.

If you're going to upgrade the GPU and RAM to that extent, you may as well build a whole new computer. Or wait around for the PS3 release.

The new card will show significant improvement, but it's still putting bandage on the wound when you look at your CPU. Windows 7 is also much more user-friendly than Vista.
