    slowness of progress...

Probably a billion such posts, and I'm the first to realize that these things take time, and they had the earthquake and such. But More and more I find myself concerned, it's been half a year almost since release, and were not that much more content wise, alot has been improved. But other then a few side quests/NM's not much been added. More and more people I play regularly with are dropping, with plans to come back /if/ it improves.

I get it will take time, but how much time and will it recover at this rate? Hopefully 1.17 and 1.18 will help alot, and been hoping that lack of new content of any big substance was due to working toawrds a big addition later, also I realize not much point in adding alot of PVE stuf untill they fully work out the changes to combat and classes, but most are leaving due to being repetative and not much changed from start, other then small distractions. But still many small thingst hat could be added or need added, the 4th and maybe 5th towns opened up, the 4th and 5 regions expanded a bit *like behests added*, outposts being more then a place to drop in for quests.

Maybe I'm just stupidly concerned, as there are 30 or so people in my level range acording to FFXIVPRO *though who knows how many are bots* on my server, and still see some active people playing, but I can't help but worry a bit that, it's taking a while to get things going. Heh I love this game, and will be here till the end, just worry that more and more I will be the only one fighting through all this wait on my server.

Maybe what would help, if there is such a thing yet, is a post on long term progression, not just current, next, and future goals, but a rough estimate on how long till we get more PVE, till outposts, and cities and stuff, doesn't have to be in 51 days, but like 1-3 months, something to give people a idea of progress.

I think that Yoshi P or whomever interviewed with Gamasutra mentioned that they would be changing 70% of the game. That is a whole lot of game! Actually, more like a whole lot of new game.

I think also, in the interview that they are currently focusing on changing the battle system to compliment whatever new ideas for content they might come up with in the future, so I don't think that adding more content at this time would benefit their development.

To me it seems that they are completely changing course from what FF14 is at the present moment. Like rebuilding from the ground up, starting with battle system first.

So yeah, I think it's pretty much a work in progress more than a functioning game right now. But I still like it though.

I'm all for new content and such, but I just don't see how after reading that article.

And also I'm an idiot, so no one listen to me. Thanks. :-|

yeah, souns about what I figured, least fo rcombat stuff, no point in adding more combat stuff, if they have to then change all the monsters to encorporate the new changes to combat. Heh just was taling with a friend that took a break, and he was saying he's not returning untill there are big improvements most of my LS is the same way.

I'm all for and up for big changes, my main concern on that end is that we won't get credit for what we've done so far. I'm 299th on my server place right now, last thing I want is to go back to 0, or to have no credit for the stuff I've been working on.

I do not really consider this game being 1/2 a yr old, yes it has been 6 months. But the whole old crew top devs are gone or repositioned and the new crew is changing everything up a ton. So basically the game clock in my eyes restarted when Yoshi took control of it, meaning the game is in month 3. Alot do not see it this way, but look how much Yoshi has changed from Tanaka's original plan. We are just now starting to see what all his restructuring and planning will be produce. The big thing will be the battle system redesign.

Over all if this game has not tipped towards the positive side of the spectrum by the end of the September then we are in trouble.

I think reason for lack of information from Yoshi is he has no clue when it will be done, so he does not want to say something like at the end of August you will have 10 dungeons 200 quest and 5 new zones... then August 1st arrives and "oh crap, we only have 5 dungeon finished the other 5 are not working as intended, we only done 143 quest, and 2/5 zones are not going to be polished near enough to release. I understand why he is doing it he does not want to cause massive overhype then massive disappointment, although i would like a estimated timeline... but ppl will take estimated as meaning fact online.

It would be much better to say on August 1st "hey we will be releasing a massive patch with 5 dungeons, 143 quest, and 3 whole new zones at the last patch of the month, and we plan on a patch sometime in the first few months of fall releasing an additional 5 dungeons, the remainder of the zones, and 50-60 new quest we hope you look forward to it all."

And these elements releasing polished and launch ready would work out and make people happy, compared to scenario 1 where they scale back the update and outrage people, or release it in poor condition and outrage ppl.

Yeah I get the part about exact dates, why I said a rough estimate, but it would help keep people a bit more interested, I have full hopes there are big patches coming up with tons of content, but the ammount done even if we take into account 3 months, is still years away from being full quality if the amount of the patches so far are ammount to come. Especially with how disapointing the NM's and Side quests were, they were nice, but too small and more like wetting the tastebuds, then actually something to keep people interested.

New content regularly that keeps people intersted more then a few hours, will keep people here playing, right now, most are quiting because there isn't anything new since release that really gets anyone interested. NM and quests were okay, but a few hours or weeks they are done, and it's back to grinding crafting/leve's.

I'm fine with it all, but not alot are, and I want to see this game suceed, and keep people excited and interested.

bleah :> sorry to semi rant, what ever, I love the gae and a die hard fan, but every player that I know that vanishes and doesn't return is another kick int he gut it feels like for this gae.

I'm sorry to be rude, but your thread basically boils down to:

"Even though I know they have a lot of work and that it will take time, I'm still going to complain that it's taking too long".

They have a built-in life preserver called the PS3 release. And the PS3 release will signal to PC players that the game is supposedly "ready", so they will come back to try it out.

Actually not really. To me, wha they have released isn't congruant with the amount of time they have had to get stuff out, and at this rate it's going to take years to fix. What I was saying is that, I'm hoping and guesing, that there is ore behind the scenes that is being worked on and were only seeing 20-30% of the actual progress, and they are waiting for a point when soe core parts are fixed, before they release the other 70%. My concern is that if that they heave released is all there is period thats been done, then this game is in trouble. A good game next year will be fun for me to play with, but borring if I'm only player left, and a boring year till then if there is nothing added to bring back or keep people interested. The last few patch's have had a tiny bit of interest grow then people vanished again, more each time.

I'm just concerned they arn't releasing anything yet, that keeps interest. Small additions that add content or things for people to do, can go a long ways to keep people here, as long as they last more then a few hours.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if FF14 became even more like an alpha or beta in that the developers throw in new game ideas, even if broken ideas, into the game for us to test out just for the fun of it. I wouldn't mind signing up to be a tester for whatever Yoshi P has got to throw out there. As long as they throw us a freakin' bone out here!
