I get what the OP's saying, but here's where I think SE messed up:

They know the servers are weak. We all do. When did they think having a big 'end of the world event', and inviting inactive players to come back and witness it, was a good idea? I've said all along they should have made a cutscene for people to witness, or released a final video for only subscribed players (or people who have ever had an account). This would have been within 1.0's limitations, and it would have made everyone happy.

Unless SE specifically wanted us to see where 1.0's failures were in order to make us more excited for ARR, this was terrible execution. It's not necessarily the tools you have at your disposal, but how you use those tools. This was a square peg in a round hole.

Anyway, I don't feel a sense of entitlement because I have the CE edition, or because I have Legacy status, or because I have been paying since release, or because I have a relic that I earned before server save... this is just common sense. I think I was looking forward to this just as much as any other player was, and I understand why they are disappointed...

And disappointment is where it should end. Anger, or that sense of entitlement, is unrealistic and... odd, for a game.

In order to save face, SE is going to have to do SOMETHING to give us an 'end of the world' surprise. I'm sure they're already talking with their developers to make some sort of CS or movie that we can watch to make up for it. Yoshi's not stupid and he's not going to let the 'last event' go down in flames.
