Initially I was thinking the same as you... postpone the event so people can experience it, but at this point you have to ask:

• What's the point?

Ultimately the idea was an End Of The World-type scenario, with *many players / most of the server* fighting off something together.

Sounds cool, but if our old 1.0 Servers can't handle it, no amount of delaying will "fix" that. See what I mean?

So if they space it out so, let's say, anyone over the next 48 Hours can experience it, then maybe people can log in, but at different times.

But then you might have, say, ~10 - 15 people "defending Eorzea till Dalamud comes down!" or even fewer people (Depending on when you logged in if they delayed it).

Not very "epic" or "grand" at all at that point.

And if they balanced it originally so that they wanted HUNDREDS of players to pile on whatever Garlean forces were at Castrum Novum, how could they handle that when you delay the end event?

I think at this point, SE should just let the event pass and give us the Live Producer Letter.

Postponing it is simply making the the problem repeat itself at a later time, there's no point. The problem is that the server can't handle the sheer amount of players online, not much can change that.

Sorry, but the mistake was on their part after all. As much as I can be /happy that old adventurers returned to experience these final 3 days of Eorzea, the devs should have known that with the current server structure it would have caused a problem.
And consequently bring a lot of negativity to those who actually stayed in Eorzea until the end, as I could read in some comments here, like “A fitting end for 1.0” etc.

Speaking for me, it wouldn't be a fitting end, since I adored my stay in Eorzea 1.0 until the very end (that is, the moment I got kicked out of the server).

The only solution I could have thought of was to restrict login for the final event only to those adventurers with an active account on November 1st. That is, priority to those who always supported Eorzea.

Oh well...


P.S.: Still trying to reach the Character Screen, but no luck.

Oh people give it a rest. They're going to lose customers? Yeah right, you'll try 2.0, and so will the people who quit. The servers suck, stop saying things to make yourself feel better.

I've seen several threads of adventurers angry that they can't log in, so I was thinking... rather than being angry in the very last day in Eorzea, how about asking the devs (and maybe today since it's the final event there're some reps here) to postpone the event a bit?

I crashed alongside my whole party 20 minutes ago and I can't go back in (I can't even reach the Character Screen ), so like others I'm missing the final event (and I got up at 06.00 AM because it was an exceptional occasion).
If there're some reps around, can you please forward this request to the dev team and postpone the event a bit for all of us who've been waiting for it?

While this sounds great, I would prefer them just ending this 1.0 crap. It's been a very interesting experience these past two years, and it certainly sucks that this final event if having these issues. But I honestly think that they should just suck it up, apologize, and move on.

This just gives reason as to why 1.0 needs to go if anything. JPs tell me 2.0's server structure is ridiculously good even in alpha. So, whatever. I'll just enjoy this game again in 2.0. This event is a bust and makes me feel better about them moving forward.

People with log in issues really aren't missing anything. It's just an incredibly laggy Mor Dhona with most of the server fighting Imperials with about 30 seconds between each attack. No special mobs, apart from Imperial Juggernaut which nobody seems to be able to attack anyway, and there are mobs in Ul'dah but they've been appearing there for the last week or so.

Uk player here , i guess getting up at 6 40 in morning thought might have chance log in, going keep trying up till the end but if i dont just want say thanks for great 1.0 and will watch the event final video either on you tube or if they post anything here see you all in a few months i hope as i not going be doing th alpha but looking to see what 2.0 is like so see you all then and goodbye 1.0
