Will Relics create the same problems that they did in FFXI?

SE made relics available very early on in FFXI's lifecycle in 2003. They were the top weapons until 2010 when abyssea came out and gave us Empyrean weapons some of which were better then relics.

Relics created an artificial ceiling on weapons in FFXI in that no weapon released in that 10 year time span could be better then a relic or have higher damage on it.

Now we have FFXIV they released relics early on as well. Are we going to see a repeat of what happened in FFXI where every new weapon that comes out has to be worse then relics? Or will we actually see them come out with new weapons that are better then relics?

I dont think of them as really relic weapons when Excalibur comes ill consider that a relic weapon curtana is filler imo.
You know relics could be upgraded in 11 right and you can duel wield PLD/NINDNC or RDM Excalibur/Almace
and there were other used weapons relics should be the best revered not only in FF lore but rl as legend.

ever heard the story of Masamune and Muramasa his apprentice challenging his master, beautiful story.
only problem i had was i always believed Excalibur should be PLD only and RDM shouldnt get it. another reason i like the weapon division.
It also came out later lvl75 entry sword upgraded to max lvl and i onyl seen people up to 95 no 99's
Just look at those weapons more as an entry lvl relic to promote getting back to the roots of the staple image more than and actuall relic specially if they converge other ff games with this.
Also in 03 Excalbur took YEARS to make vs how abby is now and take months so maybe it was the best weapon in teh game but thats ok cause like 2 people on the server had it.... 3 YEARS later
And the only reason it is easier is you have 99's to farm it and it only takes that long cause of dynamis time span. Game is way harder doing capped content.
