SO many people are very scared of this "mass produced" mmo garbo. If the masses run to it - then they must be doing something right.
I personally like it. Sounds like FF to me..

i like the music, looks like people are pretty desperate to find something to complain about, but that's nothing new on this forums
While people can argue the new music for Gridania isn't "final fantasy", keep in mind that Final Fantasy constantly changes it's style of music. Of course this doesn't mean that they won't have in compositions as a whole (for the game), tracks that are reminiscent of Gregorian chant or alterations thereof, (which are pervasive in final fantasy titles), and classical arrangements. I'm sure there will be arrangements that will reflect musical styles such as those used for Sephiroth's theme, and Neal Van Darnus "rise of the white raven", but again, this isn't the end all be all. Having said that, this new theme, (if it even is the new theme for Gridania), certainly feels like it fits the atmosphere. I think to an even greater degree, it gives the game a more "MMO" feel, instead of just a "Final Fantasy" feel. This is after all, a hybrid.

FFXII's music was very Grand, Lots of brass, chorals, orchestrated pieces.
FFXI soundtrack was folksy, mysterious, and lonely at times.
Both OST were fantastic for their respective games.
On ARR:
Its funny, I wasn't much of a fan of the 1.0 music much when I started this game, now I've grown rather attached to some pieces.
Give the ARR music a year or so and we'll all end up liking it much more.

i like it.it's a good piece that fits a town in the woods, and the background noise goes very well with it.
the problem i have with current songs, they are just to short, that's why i have the game completely muted for months now :/
the current gridania tune is fine, but looping every 2:30 mins or something like that i get sick pretty quickly of all the rastling, and ringing and dingelinging (i'm pretty sure i just made up this word) in the current track, it's just too tacky for a town in the woods
wait a sec... are you guys talking about old BGM or new ones? I was commenting on the old one which I adore so much. The new one? It does fit the mood, but it kinda makes me miss the old BGM so much. ; ;
I think the big problem is the birds in the background. the ambient volume is too high, this music belongs in a city. it does well. When you are outside the city is the important music. outside is where you adventure. It should feel way different outside, lively and inspiring.
I have a strong feeling that when they made that comment, the music of ARR was not taken into consideration. Some of the titles of the FF franchise did give the same feeling on their tracks, but I guess it's going to be difficult for people to accept some new stuff if Final Fantasy is not plastered over it.
Sidenote, PSO definitely has amazing music.
Its great. Keep it.
I love it! Beats the one in any city right now.
