

...I was being facetious -_-When you use 2d models they disappear against the right angles. To prevent this they make the grass follow your camera so it is always facing you (happens to leaves in a lot of games).
Its to save resources since making it truly 3d takes a good computer.
I think thats what you are talking about at least. You can see in the new ARR alpha part 2 video that the grass is made of multiple planes usually offset so that you always see at least one of the planes (so the grass just doesn't fully vanish but also isn't following your camera annoyingly).
