Not grid, just the black shroud around it...
I guess Grid suffered some collateral damage and had to be rebuilt a bit as well.
I'm starting to wonder if Ul'dah is going to be the most changed now...

They said awhile ago the cities will largely remain the same, but now it seems they are moving things around and putting zonelines in to make running through town faster.
The zone line markers are brilliant I loved them on FFXII, and I love them now. Aetherite is finally in a convenient location and the delivery moogle is where the Aetherite is in 1.0, decent location for it, kind of out the way but somewhere easily accessible.
The water looks awesome, and I'm sure the lancer's guild looks a lot more epic than now. The animations are fine the way I see it, not over the top, and not too little.
If I have to say something bad, it would have to be the path the Miqo'te jumps off seems a little high for jumping, it's at least 2x the height of her, but it's nothing game breaking (and if that was based on height, lalafell would not be able to jump of anything bigger than a Chigoe's dead body).

The music is nice (obviously inspired by the LotR shire music)
Lol..this explains why when I was watching this vid I was like "man..it feels like I'm in the Shire for some reason and I don't know why!"
Looks and sounds amazing, can't wait to see Ul'Dah.

amazing for alpha.
very impressed.
finally sunshine in gridania![]()

Very nice! I'm probably alone in this, but I wish the miqo'te panties werent quite as visible when she runs...considering I'm probably gonna go miqo'te for the new world.

You are not alone. I really don't know what people have with sexy stuff in video games. I prefer reality
But I don't care as long as it is at a normal level.
Same reason most men find fat women unattractive yet there's men out there who find fat women very attractive, you don't have to understand it.
Aside from the uninspired generic feel of the music, it does look a bit too bright which could be due to the lightning not being optimized yet.
This... not a fan turning the deep forest and lighting of Gridania into some sort of LotR-Shire with tall trees. Hopefully improvement to lighting will come with time, even if the music remains... (Right now it reminds me, to no surprise, of 1.0's alpha lighting, comparatively.)Same reason most men find fat women unattractive yet there's men out there who find fat women very attractive, you don't have to understand it.

That said, the sectioning looks pretty well done, and the city looks deservedly larger. Given that the whole of the Black Shroud has now become a Light-Brown Shroud, I can't really justify any complaints about the city itself.
You hatin on LOTR music? your opinion and elexia's will forever fly out of the window and there's no going backThis... not a fan turning the deep forest and lighting of Gridania into some sort of LotR-Shire with tall trees.
