Again.. The mail moogle deserves its own post.
It's awesome!
(can't people just be happy instead of complaining after 10 seconds? You'll be a tester soon enough to give them your feedback)

I think it's just anoying that the lack of animation + the pivot makes the game look more like a korean free to play game. If they plan to keep the pivot they should at least add a side step animation. I remain hopeful that they get around to adding it as everything else looks really good.

Do we need another 1000 post-thread about "back-paddel" to prove those people wrong in the end, since it is alpha? The actual build of the game is further ahead, that is the alpha client and just created to test what SE wanted to test in alpha, which is obviously not animations. There is a BIG LOGO in the bottom left corner which says ALPHA-Version.. gosh you people are hilarious.I think it's just anoying that the lack of animation + the pivot makes the game look more like a korean free to play game. If they went through the effort to make new animations, and they suck, then that is cause for alarm. Being an apologist isn't going to help SE.

Man, after 3° live letter was an all-range crying because back-pedaling, no stop animation, and so on, while it was very clear they were still unfinished (just look the "running on the place" animation while a pg turn). Why should be different now ? They are clearly better now, but yet far from "finished"

This is two years of work, In that time if they wanted to knock up a side step it would have been done. Like I said, I remain hopeful. And yeah I realise it's in Alpha and i'm a pretty funny guy.![]()

C'mon guy, Yoshida didn't announce 2.0 until October/November 2011 around patch 1.19. You can read Letter 21 here which is the first letter he says the words "2.0": http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...598#post457598
But you may be right about the animations. I honestly don't focus too heavily on animations except in battle so there's the difference of opinion.

The previous engine was in development for at least three years, So i would expect that the new one was in development fairly early.
I'm also as excited for 2.0 as much as everyone else, I just expect the best quality from Square Enix and as of this moment I'm not seeing it. If zones give us richer and more vibrant environments i'm all for it!
We all have different preferences, and for me that's nice fluid animations. Some people might be disappointed at other things. it's all good.

Maybe this helps. It's from v1.0 alpha to beta.
