It looks so much better. Only criticism I have is maybe tone down the background noise with the birds I could see that getting annoying. Besides that A+!![]()

The sliding and the camera locked on the back bother me a little, and with a toggle the latter is easily fixed, but hey, looks good so far. Can't wait to get my hands on the game, though now I get the feeling I'll be hanging around in Grid more in 2.0. No problem with that, I like Grid.
Sadly I don't think this is an "alpha" thing. It is how most MMOs operate. I have decided that since i am not alone on feeling this way I am going to continue to post my gripe about the animation over and over until they fix it
..FIX THE ANIMATION. WE SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ROTATE A CHARACTER 360 DEGREES WITHOUT ANY PARTS OF HIS BODY MOVING.

I couldn't be a developer for this game, you do what folk ask and start showing stuff, so what happens - they pick issues and complain, complain, complain even though what is shown is of an incredibly high standard, particularly for an Alpha. I'd have shoved my head through an iron spike a while back as one of them.
Also, I don't know what MMOs you have been playing but in SW:TOR and WoW your character shuffle turns when you hold right-click to turn. Seriously though, my good mood about this video has been fried by the community and the posts that appear - the music, the animation, Jesus, why do they bother?
New Grid looks epic! I love these video but they do nothing but make me want more.
Hahaha simma down now. I wrote an entire blog praising this video. I think it's fantastic in many many ways. The static character rotating around an axis point is a very bizaare looking move. Plain and simple. And so far it's really my only concern. However, I believe that switching to the gamepad as I will be using will reconfigure the character movements so I'm not overly concerned about this.I couldn't be a developer for this game, you do what folk ask and start showing stuff, so what happens - they pick issues and complain, complain, complain even though what is shown is of an incredibly high standard, particularly for an Alpha. Loving the direction this is taking. Music, graphics. Looks great for an Alpha!
The zone dissections seem really well planned out so using the aether points is still relevant but at the same time not a requirement to avoid the length journey from the crystal to the guild halls. I also like the FF12 zone line markers it seems to fit in very well and doesn't bother the atmosphere in the zone unless your staring directly into the void of it. The "small" redesign seems to be having a huge effect with the removal of the extra shopping stands and some of the 1.0~ lengthening methods to separate zones for seamless flow it seems to give the effect there is more there but at the same time less to travel through.
The mini map compass is very nice with the <pos> always displaying and what I suppose is a sun dial lever on the top left is very genre fitting. I am assuming though it's size and opacity can be adjusted for those that like to have more screen space. The quest display on the mini map is a major feature that will help many new player as well as some of the absent minded/ sleep deprived veterans that forget where npcs/objectives are and don't want to go all the way into the journal to decipher the location from the text, a helpful hand specially if a week to 2 week break throws of their perception and focus.
Also the lack of invisible walls between great drops was interesting and unexpected with previous statements about the advantages of jump being more cosmetic then functional.
Also I am glad to see that the weather bar is still in the game, more so of a personnel confirmation.

My biggest irritation with the video is that the NPC animations which are extremely active (The kid at Carpenters Guild as an example) is stuck in that one position. The fact that the kid is balancing there so unsteadily is just weird after 10 seconds of looking at him because he doesn't move to another log or step down. I just hate that kind of thing... Standing in place is one thing but just about to fall over? That's a really silly position to have the kid in forever.
The other thing I noticed, but wasn't sure if it's the video or how it was captured but there seems to be a blur effect when you turn your camera. Everything that was crystal clear gets really fuzzy as soon as you adjust your camera slightly.
The least of my problems would be the gates. Obviously, the gates are big enough that they should open away from you. If they were smaller, it would make more sense to have them go one way. But they are just too big to swing at you like that it's like they are going to hit you. Maybe just make that animation client side based on the character's approach?
So now Gridania is... Two zones. x.x I was hoping it'd be smaller...
Still, very pretty.
Well the original grid was 7 seamless zones i think. But i guess if they stacked some guilds in the same building, but they need space to add npc for events and quests though so Some size is important
