So, I was searching through the forum for anything about this but couldn't find anything so I started a new thread about it.

Will the launcher for A Realm Reborn be something more than just a simple "web page" kind of thing? When I first saw it in alpha/beta, I thought it was ugly (coming from using Playonline with FFXI) and figured it was only staying like that during the alpha/beta. The game was released...and it stayed exactly the same.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Playonline Viewer that came with Final Fantasy XI. I know it was originally planned to support more games but only had XI and Tetra Master. Tetra Master later became discontinued...and Playonline became outdated and obsolete.

People could argue that they don't want another Playonline viewer. I'll admit, a lot of the features on it...well...pretty much everything but launching XI is unused. When I first started XI, I had such an old computer that I couldn't even run it (lol) so until I got a new one, I spent a lot of time in the chat rooms and exploring all the other features of the Playonline viewer and I really liked all the things it had. Like downloadable wallpapers and all these little nooks and crannies of the viewer with different BGM and different themes and backgrounds for different areas of the viewer. I enjoyed it a lot. And signing on to XI today I sometimes go through and look at the backgrounds and such. For me, the Playonline Viewer has some nostalgia in itself.

Is there any plan of having a launcher that's like a modern Playonline Viewer? Maybe something that has a special version of these forums? be able to chat with linkshell members or /tell friends without logging in? Etc? I think it would be great. Even if they added BGM
