    WHM & Teleport

    Hey, just a thought.

    But, to be completely honest, I'd like to see White Mage get a teleport spell in A Realm Reborn.

    But, I doubt this would happen since everyone has Anima.

    So then I thought, what if we get rid of anima, and give White Mage teleport and Black Mage warp?

    And then I figured, If I suggested that, everyone would hate me.


    So then I thought... what if we kept anima, and gave White Mage teleport anyway, except the difference would be, instead of being limited to teleporting to an Aetheryte crystal, White Mage can specify exactly on the map where they'd like to teleport? That might be a little much. Maybe tone back the capabilities of Anima to make Teleport more important?

    It's something I think would be cool. Doubt it would happen. And I don't know about A Realm Reborn, but the way the game is now, there's enough Aetheryte camps around where teleport wouldn't be necessary even if you can specify anywhere on the map to go. That being said, I feel there will be a significantly less amount of Aetheryte camps around the world in ARR.


    So, what do you think? If White Mage were to get Teleport, how do you think it would differ from just using anima?

    Depending on how many temples are in the game and where (I've only seen one so far) you could give WHM the ability to teleport to towns through spells (to holy sites).

    Then give BLM the D2 return spell.

    Could then make it so your home return point is 1. a religious deity / pilgrimage of some sort and the other 2. a return to crystal / dark matter type thing (other locations - perhaps the less savory destinations in particular, introduce a corrupted aetheryte maybe).


    Type thing (the most accurate description of any item, ever).


    Depending on how many locations White Mage could warp to, and if they needed any prerequisites to teleporting - it could differ hardly at all or it could allow the anima system to disappear and then we can appreciate the scale of the game better and yet not be stuck to "always" slow walking to location (which is what it did in FFXI).

    I think your idea of having WHM being able to teleport anywhere is a little too... easy. What's the point of having a big, beautiful world if you can just zip past, literally, all of it?

    I'm not sure WHM really needs teleport or BLM needs warp. The Aetheryte system combined with airships and mounts provides a nice and quick transport network overall. The only change I'd personally like to see is have anima removed, but make it so that you can only teleport from Aetheryte to Aetheryte.

    But if teleport had to be in the game, maybe having it uniquely able to access really remote areas (non-aetheyte locations) could be good.

    Yeah WinnipegJet, I'd gladly trade Anima for Whm to have teleport. And Shougun I assume "holy sites" would be something like the crags in XI right? I'd like to see that.

    I don't want to say, "Make the game more like XI!" But I liked the exclusivity of teleport to whm only. Why fix what isn't broken? Though since their lvl cap increase, you can sub whm and teleport on any job. But still, you'd have to have whm leveled.

    Well we have stones in weird places (the ones you pray to during "Living on a prayer" quest), and after Dalamud hits I assume people will realize the twelve are awesome and saved their asses - because we failed.

    So.. there should be many temples and pillgrimage-y craig like locations in ARR :P.

    I'm personally not against this idea, but with a change - don't make this spell WHM exclusive. Make it one of those abilities that can be used across all disciplines - kinda like how Fingerprint of the Gods gets unlocked for all gathering classes at once, as well as Hasty Hand for crafting classes.

    WHM is already pigeon-holed enough and as popular as can get. We don't need it to be even more so.

    (Anima can still exist with this kind of system, by the way. Just limit it more - slower regeneration, teleport by anima needs 5 minute cooldown, whatever. As said, don't fix what isn't broken - anima system isn't broken. Just modify it a little.)

    On top of that 5 minute cooldown, restore the original cost of Anima to areas too. That'd really make you run through it Just like you did in the earlier days of XIV lol!

    Anima itself isnt a a problem system - just some of the more old school (?), hardcore (?), rpg-y (?) people want a system to promote using "slower transportation" to increase the sense of scale and hence belonging. Like where are my airship rides, I'm hoping for train rides in ARR (having seen the train in a few screenshots). Though a slightly accelerated ride or more random events on board wouldn't be bad :P

    I like some twitch gameplay opportunities but I hope we dont twitch everything.

    Not sure if OP intent was along the lines of what I was talking about above, so don't feel like I'm claiming your intent OP ^_^,

    Well, having more alternatives always benefits. Trains, airships, ferries, litters from Ul'dah to Gridania while whipping my two Roegadyn slaves to speed up...hehe.
