And apparently the idea for chocobos came from Nausicaa (if Wikipedia and its reference are to be believed)

I named my Chocobo Ganymede. After Jupiter's moon, rather than the Greek mythos. I was huge into astronomy while I was in school, and I've liked naming things after the planets' moons.
