As I was trotting around Ul'dah on chocobo-back and passing others it really got me thinking about what people named their mounts as other players can't see that info. Additionally I presume there are many like me that gave an affectionate name to our goobbue (if we obtained one). So I wanted to open it up to all of you and throw in a few other suppositions for naming mounts. Also, please feel free to share why you decided on that name for your mount!
Current Mounts
Chocobo: Swagger. I named my mount swagger a bit to highlight that term's recent usage but also because obtaining that mount fulfilled the traditional definition of "to walk or strut with a defiant or insolent air; to boast or brag noisily." Between the rattle of the barding and the classic "kweh" (or wark, if you prefer) it made sense.
Goobbue: George. A bit of a Loony Tunes reference. While the name is used by the monster who says "I will love him, and pet him, and call him George" I figured it was funny enough if my Lala did the same to him. I love my big guy!
Supposed Mounts
Ahriman: Po. A bit of a nod to the Zelda franchise, this is a bit self-indulging as I have a rather infamous beholder in an ongoing D&D campaign I have been running named the same.
Magitek: 20X6. This name actually is a hat tip to both the Mega Man franchise and also the parody of it in Homestar Runner with its character "Stinkoman" (an alternate/anime Strong Bad) that exists in the year, "twenty x-ty six!"
