SE Crysta

They crysta system set up in the account management pages seems to imply that you can do other things with the crysta or that there was an intent to have other things to purchase aside from game time for FFXI and FFXIV.

Was there going to be something else we could spend crysta on? if so what kinds of things would/could/should we be able to purchase? I was almost hoping for the eventual micro transactions, like special mounts, powerful starting/mid range gear, flashy/fancy looking costumes, consumables like special fireworks.

The site originally used "Member Coins," but now Crysta will become the new standard for purchasing things from the Members store, such as Avatar clothing, books, CDs and games. Two things make this especially interesting: First is the fact that you can buy in-game currency in Fantasy Earth Zero, and second is the assurance that Crysta will work for "all services linked to your Square Enix Account."

I would still be interested in finding out if they have some plans for micro transactions. I saw a recent dev post say something about Chronoscroll/PLEX (or something like that) where tey mentioned their first goal is to get a solid member base before branching out.

An half baked currency square made, hope square kills it.
At most it will be used for their F2P games.

This was Crysta's original purpose yes. It was just extended to their MMOs since they figured "Why not? We have it already set up and people are already using it."

Groovy, couldnt see anything that explicitly says that but it looks implied. they changed the "coins" you could purchase to "crysta". For whatever reason I have a different account for the Square-Enix website than i do for my FFXIV account. I started the SE account way back when they started doing that thing for registering your games for Tier rewards. I'll have to see if i can merge them.

Actually I found a use for crysta...

My renewal was on the very last second of the cutoff of not being able to play in October (September 30 was my end date).

So rather then have the tiniest problem kick me out of experiencing the end in person I used crysta in advance

The main reason for these "fake currencies" is so they can charge you for the fake currency through a number of different payment systems and keep everything they sell through a single system.

It also kind of makes things easier, 1 crysta is same no matter where you live.

Its like MS points although microsoft points is being phased out so point is moot.

Its also nice for them to be able to hold onto your money in advance :P. (Interest)
