My friend, who won't be named, had unrequited feelings for an Opo Opo. After some coercion, it gave in.

Of all of our adventures, Skirmish has been the most memorable. The first attempt ever for us started with Turtleback Island, and that was quite a surprise! We had no idea how we were going to defeat such powerful foes, our members were frantically running around trying to stay alive, others were trying to top our health off and I was staring aimlessly at the gigantic monsters which I had never seen before, shouting at my screen "HOW ARE GOING TO COMPLETE THIS!?". Wide-eyed and adrenaline pumping, we managed to make it past the Bixie (Chimera), Time was winding down and as we assaulted the Cyclops, a Golem popped and destroyed our party. After we witnessed our demise, our members all exclaimed how much fun we were having, and jumped right back into another skirmish with all new strategies. Every time we attempted a Skirmish run, the strategy has differed, and a lot of the tactics worked. It was versatile content like this, which needed to be implemented. A perfect mix between flexibility and difficulty, that really made players think, sit on the edge of their seat and keep coming back for more.

I guess this is probably what happened to me 70% of the time I was playing while the world ends. Good times good times.
I thought about posting something sappy and such but most of those memories are of me soloing, so I figured I post something more realistic to what was going on.
Fun times and I slightly regret not being strong enough to help fight against the monsters.

The holiday season of 2011, my friends and I put together a "sleigh": four reindeer arranged roughly by height, with Santa in the back, each auto-following the one before. Since I had the full outfit, I got to be Santa! We paraded around Ul'dah and got a bunch of snowballs thrown at us. We'd found an easy way to contribute to the city's festivities on our server, if only for a few minutes. I hope to do it again someday.

I was handling the falling meteors from atop a floating platform while fighting Nael Van Darnus, and saw this awesome photo opp:

Last Ifrit run before Server Merge
This was our last Ifrit run before Server Merge. Our friends Skuld and Freyja Valgard were transferring over to a new server. We decided to one last run together before they left. It was a lot of fun.

The Eorzean Explorers Society checks out the Garlean stronghold.
We are a linkshell made of people who love to explore, and every change to Eorzea was big fun for us. We went to the stronghold and then died a lot, but had fun along the way. Mor Dhona was always a great place and we had all sorts of races there.

This image pretty much encapsulates the best of FFXIV 1.0. This was the winning result of about 3 weeks worth of hard work to win Rivenroad Hard. It wasn't a LS doing a closed event, it wasn't somebody paying their way through the content. It was about 8 random players who got together to finish a difficult piece of content. We laughed, we got frustrated but we stuck together through thick and thin and got the win. No ego's, no blame, no drama over loot or any of that nonsense; just a shared commitment to win and help each other out. That's what a MMO should be about.
