This shot is from one of my old forays into The Black Shroud. I remember I was excited over having just completed my Harlequin's gear set. When it began to rain, this kind funguar offered me shelter, to keep me warm and keep my new hat dry.
That story is awesome!
Long ago, outside of Gridania in the Twelveswood bordering Ala Mhigo territory, there was a small cat girl named Sainya. It had always been her and her father, Bnhapla Athete, alone as far back as she could remember. She would play her carved wooden flute for him, and he would reward her with his lively stories of Eorzea.
One day, after the last of the staples had been secured from their harvest, he brought out a well-worn wooden box from beneath his chair. Opening it, copper hora lay inside, very weathered from years of use. "Sainya," his voice crisp and younger sounding than she had ever heard before, "I bequeath to you these hora. You are old enough to travel, as I once did, to the Platinum Mirage, and find your fortune amongst the pugilists there." As Sainya reached for them, she curled her fingers around their handles. She took a stance in front of him, and Bnhapla smiled proudly to his daughter.
That night, with no time to spare, she gathered together her few belongings and readied herself for the journey to come. Staring up at the sky through the wooden slats of their hut, she clutched the precious copper fists to her chest, and whispered quietly to Nophica, "I pray you will find me a way with Oschon, my matron," and drifted to a light sleep.
Sainya awoke to the loud mechanical sounds of ships. 'Ships?' she thought as her eyelids fluttered open, sparkling emerald hues betwixt white locks. The leaves swirled about the field outside of the window as large machines flapped about in the midnight sky. Clamoring to her feet, she grabbed the hora, and called out to Bnhapla, but he was not there. Running as fast as she could outside, she stood on the edge of a cliff overlooking what was once Ala Mhigo.
Although she wasn’t close enough to see the city, what she saw was surrounded by unfamiliar technologies, fire, and destruction. Her mouth hanging agape, she turned around to find her father standing not so far from her overlooking the scene, stony-faced. He tried to shout something above the noise, but his words were forever lost as she reached out for him. The ground beneath her feet moved towards the sky—no—it was that the ground beneath her father was sinking. She fell to her knees reaching out for him, their fingers barely brushing each other as he fell from her sight. She cried out in a somber act of desperation, blinking as she opened her eyes, awakening, to see the market of Ul’dah materialise before her.
The caravan had awoken her from her fitful slumber as it bounced along, the voices of the other passengers overflowing with excitement at the various merchants along the strip and ships in the sky. It had been 15 years since that night to which she disappeared into The Black Shroud. She had worked alongside the loosely held alliance between the three cities, preferring to stay at outposts to coordinate the efforts along the front line of defence, always looking for a trace of her father. The two scars on her cheeks a testament to her survival of the greenwrath brought on by the Empire and the secret admittance to the rebels amongst the fleeing Ala Mhigans.
She smiled up at the sky, her Keeper of the Sun features lighting up as the silver and emerald hair rings swung beside her face. It’d taken a while, but now, she would finally follow her father’s wishes at the Platinum Mirage. Squeezing the weathered hora she had abandoned for so long in favor of the ones furnished by the outposts, she closed her eyes, tail twitching as she prayed to Oschon for a sign in this bustling city.
Two years had passed. Sainya had seen her sign, as well as many battles alongside fellow adventurers. Finally, she had seen the alliance which fell apart so easily before come to fruition. Her skills as a pugilist, and now even a monk had brought her happiness that she could fulfill her long gone father’s dream.
After the meeting amongst the many leaders had drawn to a close, Sainya crawled atop the sun-filled table, her tail twitching in a frisky fashion. Sitting down, she looked out at the greenery of Gridania with a knowledgeable smile of what it took to keep it this peaceful. May the stories forged on the journey never be forgotten.
<- The real reason Yoshi-P stressed watching all the cutscenes.
Matoya: And that should give you a notion of how sick and tired I was of those spineless wretches of the Forum. All talk and no trousers, that lot.

The dangers of a wrong turn in the forest >_<
On Saturday November 3rd my linkshell (OGC of Ridill) and I went on a field trip around Eorzea. We had planned to do this for over a month, and while it just started out as a potential idea and jokes about getting signed permission slips from our parents, its planning quickly evolved to a full blown linkshell event where all members were instructed to get all of their AF for all jobs out, all of their achievements awards and more. Different locations kept piling on to our destination list, we then decided to add different "Armor set themes" to each location, and even during the event it continued to evolve as we added specific emotes/spells to each location that we would all do a the same time via /countdown. The event lasted almost 5 hours.
Here is my favorite

Kanade Tachibana & I having fun with this event. It was such a challenge to get the emote and timing right to snap this. One of us had to hide in the heart sculpture in the background to trigger the heart chocolate effects!
