When open beta of 1.0 came out, the first thing I did was try to explore all of Eorzea. One of the areas I tried to reach was the Galmorre (sp) Ruins near the northernmost part of the Black Shroud. It took 100s of attempts and deaths. I spent hours just getting to the nearby atheryte crystal and then hours more getting to the ruins. I eventually manged to get this picture of myself dead but right infront of them. Not only that, but I was killed by an Ixali fencer. The first Ixali I had ever seen and possibly the only Ixali in the Black Shroud at the time. It inspired me to reach every single point in Eorzea and compile multiple "exploration guides" to help others experience the amazing world.

One of the most amazing things about this game was the attention to detail and the beautiful world. Sadly, many of the areas remained unused. But spending days just exploring Eorzea and dying hundreds of times in the process was well worth it. And it is a memory I will never forget.

Defeating Good King Moggle Mog XII was an interesting step for our LS. We floundered a lot on Ifrit due to reasons many and varied (something like 22 losses and one victory as an LS), and when 'enough' of our main team joined pick-up group after pick-up group for Ifrit to get their weapons, we gave the moogles the good ol' college "Try." We were late to the 'discovery' phase of the raid, and by the time we got to it, sure, strategies had matured and spread across the forums. But after our horrendous efforts on Ifrit, victory against a dual-phased enemy which had far more targets than the singular Primal was a far-off dream.

OR WAS IT? On our fourth attempt, we bested the King and his minions! Our spirits soared and we wanted to do the fight again, and again! It became our favorite fight in terms of difficulty: some days we would pull wins from the jaws of defeat, other times we cleared it with laser-like precision. We got our confidence back; the knowledge that maybe we weren't actually terrible at the game.

From there, we've had varying success. Some played more than others, but the core group of our LS worked hard and cleared the Grand Company storylines, defeating Nael van Darnus. It's a goal we all shared and definitely wanted to accomplish before 1.xx was gone completely. We threw ourselves into battle after battle on patch days, and cleared each obstacle as it came along, forming strategies through word of mouth and our own ingenuity. We loved every bit of it and gave it our all, finally adorning each of our heads with a Dalamud Horn. But that's a different picture, and a different story. A story that wouldn't be possible without this moment- our energizing victory over Good King Moggle Mog XII.

Drenched with sweat in the middle of the summer heat, my linkshell Pandemonium and I knew that some evil power was at work at this year's Moonfire Faire.



We knew that the only solution to the blistering waves of bombards would be a massive, synchronized Fire Dance the likes of which Eorzea had never seen before! (I'm Ghalleon Helseth, the Hyur at the top right of the picture with the blond hair, the green summer yukata, and the Wizard's tonban.) =3

This shot is from one of my old forays into The Black Shroud. I remember I was excited over having just completed my Harlequin's gear set. When it began to rain, this kind funguar offered me shelter, to keep me warm and keep my new hat dry.
