actually I explained how to rather easily bypass this in the OP.Also, we've already had a final save... no character information from Nov 1 through server close will be retained -- so no way to know who did what.
They can't really give anything for staying for the end of the world because it would require another save which would result in people keeping the relics that they got from under their beds.
Sure there is things they could do to remove said relics but why waste time doing that. We already have a plethora of things we are going to have in 2.0 that aren't obtainable anymore, I don't see why they need to add something else.
I'm sure it's not as easy as you mention or we would have more saves till 2.0.

Data can be parsed automatically, and it' VERY safe to assume that the current servers log login and logout times for every single account in the game.They can't really give anything for staying for the end of the world because it would require another save which would result in people keeping the relics that they got from under their beds.

SE could simply parse login times for all accounts and see who logged in during the event, and unlock the item on their account.
The system for unlocking items is already there (as we used it to unlock collectors edition stuff and whatnot). If they don't have a system to unlock the items automatically (doubtful that they don't, but let's assume for the sake of conversation), they can simply have the system mail a code to be redeemed.
All the systems required are already in place, and it doesn't require any further save.
I would love a Shattered Relic to hang on my wall in ARR... and just maybe oneday in ARR we could quest to fix it (same as regular Relic quest)...
