Like the Paladin guy with Oathkeeper goes to search for Curtana, and of course you join and find it broken, then you both set out on your quest to restore the weapon, finding clues and figureing out what you need and how to do it. It would be fine if they keep relic reborn for people who are currently workin on it, but still make new, more interesting quests with a much less random time-to-completion. I would rather abandon Relic Reborn to work on a more interesting and more realistically time consuming quest than something that depends more on your luck and/or wallet. They can keep ifrit as the final encounter if they really want to reuse content that badly.... but they could do better. It could be less stupid than Relic reborn, more interesting and in-depth than whatever XI had.
if the quest did change completely we all wanted it to. remember we wanted major changes in ARR.
