    Oh yay! I love generalizations!

It's pretty clear from the tone of your remarks which side of the fence you stand on. So, were I equally given to generalizations, I could say:

"LOL I love all the people who don't have one, or apparently don't want to put the time or effort into getting one (because being handed high-level gear for absolutely zero effort is so much more fun and rewarding than playing the game to actually earn it) are the one's screaming "YES!!".

See? That door swings both ways.

By the by, I don't have any relics in FFXIV, and would not want to keep anything I've been given. If SE told us "by the way, you get to keep them", I'd throw them away and not get a single additional piece. I want to earn them by playing the game, not as a free hand-out.

    Strawman.

Some people are concerned about being better than everyone else, just as some people are concerned about others being better, or having better than them. Several people in this thread already have illustrated that they are not. They would prefer to actually earn the gear by playing the game, not by being handed them for no effort, like they were cheap party favors.

It's boring to me to play a game where almost everything is handed to you (see: almost every new MMO released in the past 6 years). But then again, I (thankfully) didn't grow up with the ridiculously entitled attitude many people these days have. If something is worth having and I decide I want it, I prefer to have to earn it.
