This is a stupid thread. If you can safely delete your character and have it return in 2.0, as stated by a forum rep, you won't be able to keep the relic you found under your bed after the save.

I'm probably never ever getting a relic in my gaming life ever. I just don't have the time for it, maybe one day I will but it won't be for some time. This event is nice for people like me because if you can actually equip your relic it's fun to see what it would look like on you. Maybe give you a reason to get organized and get one too.

It's just a fun event. We had our last save, quit demanding crap and just ENJOY yourselves. For the love of the Twelve quit whining all the time.
