Why incorporate ideas relating to subscriptions from two dying MMO games? I'm not trying to troll or anything. I'm genuinely curious.

In my opinion, this topic is really simple.
For a game to be fair, every player needs to be on the same leve. As such, my personal life and how much money I have in RL should not affect in any way my performance in-game, or how much money I can make in-game. The same goes for time. Someone casual can't expect to have as much as a hardcore player with less play time. If I want to get something, I need to play for it, since this is a game.
The same thing goes for cash shops, even cosmetical.
I'd prefer to have a chance to get everything the game has to offer with playtime instead of RL money, even if it doesnt serve a purpose.
Keep in-game what is for the game. Don't throw RL in there.
if you have legacy then its $10 a month which is 120 a year. that's the price of 2 full price games that cost $60.each. I think a game you can play everyday for a year is worth the price of 2 games you would prob only play for a few weeks so I don't see the need for anything to change. For people who don't have legacy, you'll have to pay a little more, sucks to be i guess. In my opinion, this topic is really simple.

nuff' said.
If you can't pay the sub fee with your own money I don't see why you should be playing the game. Converting gil to real money or vice versa is not a good idea IMO.
I would hardly consider a game that is pulling in $15x400K (6M USD) in sub fees on a monthly basis "dying".Originally Posted by KamikazeMan

If you are not into PvP, it may not be a game many here may wish or even dare to play, as dying even once against PvE can cost you days of gameplay buildup. But for those that loves hardcore PvP players, it has been considered the best MMO for quite sometime.
I myself left after over 1-1/2 years because I was getting to the stage where I must venture into PvP, and I wasn't into that style of play.

I didn't realize that Gil was a completion bar. So, when I hit 999,999,999 Gil do I win the game? I don't think so. That's what U/U items are for. Things like this are great for casual players because they can make money and do the things they want instead of spending their few hours farming each day and it's great for hardcore players because it gives them a way to play the game for free. It's also great for everyone because RMT sales tank immediately.
This is by far the stupidest idea I think I've ever seen on these forums. Just because other games do it doesn't mean it's a good idea. This is something SE shouldn't just say no to, they should give it a hell no.
And to the "RMT sales tank" comment, I think FFXI handled RMT better than any other game I've seen. They launched the rmt task force and eliminated them from the endgame scene entirely. Also crashed the game's economy but really that doesn't matter on an mmo.
Tera may be dying, but Eve is about as far from dying as it gets. Like I mentioned earlier, Eve is the only MMO to have continued to grow in subscriber base on a yearly basis since it launched in '03, with the game continuing to receive updates and expansions, including complete engine overhauls - you would not think that this game is almost 10 years old by looking at it now.
If Eve is dying, then FF14 is not only dead, it was buried, zombified, rose up and ate two lalas, got its head chopped off, and cremated.
funny how it works people want to play the game without playing it. people just want to log in gain then log out.I didn't realize that Gil was a completion bar. you dont need a few hours of farming a day. 1 hour a day you can rack up 100k a day and just selling junk. if you can do 1 hour day farming then a MMO aint for you, and there the ones turning the genre into crap.
if your paying for something to get free game time its not free you payed anyways.
i couldnt care less about RMT cuz there not going anywhere and in this game not a big deal your gather nodes are instanced and if they under cut im gonna under them to get my money.
I would say that this is by far the stupidest comment i've ever seen, but sadly there is worse. This is by far the stupidest idea I think I've ever seen on these forums. If you think a games economy doesn't matter in an MMO, you're wrong. dead. wrong. The economy is everything related to trading, whether it be consumables, armor and weapons, rare items for decorating your house... everything. When the economy goes to crap, no one is able to find the armor they want, no one can find the food they need to do well in those hard fights like garuda, and everyone's experience takes a turn for the worse. This means people will actually quit due to how sucky the game is to play, frustrated they can't find anything in the wards they need.
As for the STF? they did a heroic job, to be sure... but RMT still existed and thrived. When they banned bots from the endgame scene, they took to botting normal mobs, camping lesser NMs, spamming annoying tells at people, and poshacking and mining underground in mount zalyolm. I even found one in freaking fort karugo-narugo doing that with the cacti there for nopales. Its like the war on drugs, you can do all you can to fight it, but they are far more numerous and will find creative ways to get around you.
And just because other games do it doesn't mean its a good idea? Maybe not, but when 2 successful MMOs do it, it's a good idea to look into. It's called industry standards, man. If other companies are doing a PLEX system and are finding noticable improvements to subscriptions while hurting RMT activity, don't you think it at least has some merit? Certainly it doesn't warrant being called "stupid".
