Actually no not really... The tentical/whisker things in the Muv Luv pic are like the Final Fantasy version in which it is coming from the head... The Van Vogt version is on the shoulders of the cat...

I actually wanted to point out that when you posted the two pics Abriael of the coeurl and the other creature... the other cat is not a coeurl it is loosely based on the coeurl design but it is a Displacer Beast... much different I must say...

I suggest you google "final fantasy coeurl". Almost all the coeurls in the final fantasy series have a fluffy tail (and several different types of builds). I just picked the first one that I came across.

On the other end, absolutely no coeurl on any representation made by Van Vogt or made for his books has a fluffy tail.

So yeah, you've been proven wrong. I'm sure you'll live.
