I very much doubt praying helps to kill these, yesterday we had over 100 imperial centurions in ul'dah and more just kept spawning, eventually, all of them just started spontaneously dying until there was a reasonable number of killable enemies left, I imagine the spontaneous deaths are simply to relieve stress on the server.

It's more than likely something that wasn't necessarily planned. I imagine that the GMs controlling the spawns at the time are just like, "lol they're using /pray at them, let's de-spawn everything." The fact that on my server, people walked away with buffs like 10m Quickstride, proves that it's a way to get rid of them that the people in charge are supporting.

They did not despawn, they fell down and DIED. Instantly. The Number 126 Golems went from 100% to 0% in an INSTANT. Yes... Prayer killed them. It didn't happen BEFORE anyone prayed. Other servers confirmed it. Don't like it, too bad.

And there was not any substantial server stress at the time.

Praying to the Imperial Guys did not really alter my hit rates at all.
We just had our second round of Imperial Guys on Masamune, no Nael von Darnuses this time round.
What next?

How come whatever's happening on other servers are quite different from ours...

Praying got me three buffs. I was not in a party. It doesnt always do something, but sometimes it does.

Maybe...this whole thing works in stages. While some servers where just starting to have their cities invaded, others where still defending the outer walls. Maybe more enemies need to be defeated before the gods start helping?

It has... a sabotender and a morbol died not 15 minutes ago at 90%+ hp just like that. You were there, stop nuking for a minute and pay attention, it's not that you just landed a really good critical... :P

It doesn't always work. But its your loss. This event is fun as hell.
