    thats just so wrong..

in aion you had about 7-8 different attack commands which differentiated themselves between the different pets.

for example when you casted the primary attack skill command (the commands had casting times as well) for water pet for example it did a ranged direct damage attack:

while the windpet did a direct damage + stun with the primary attack skill:

so you had to pick the right pet of your choice depending on the right situation.
you can also make defensive buff commands for each kind of pet. Garuda version could be like blink in 1.0. and titan could have a stoneskin as well.

the commands had also casting times like 1-2 seconds..

but it made it much more complex.. because the summoner itself can cast simultanously poison, debuffs and command your pets.. when you had the windpet out it was a great melee damage dealer, with higher melee crit attacks, higher attackspeed, stun attacks..but less HP... while the Waterpet was a ranged damage dealer which had the most less HP. and the fire pet was a good combination..

so its not, that you have to design the summoner like it was in FFXI. Standing there and do just an attack every 30 seconds.. it can be so much more active. AION did it quiet good!

constant spells like poison, debuffs which you can cast everytime.. and also pet commands which differentiate in reference to the pet type.

but well i think thats how arcanists going to work like. what they just need to do is not to design it the way it was in FFXI. which means.. no re-usetimer of about 30+ seconds.. which is way to long.
