    No, no, no, no NO!

A Marauder is not a warrior, a Conjurer is not a White Mage. If you want traditional classes, have them introduced additionally to the game in one of the two suggestions outlined in Letter V. Changing the current classes is not required and -I think- would be like an admission of defeat. I love that the Devs are listening to the community for game suggestions, but I also want them to retain the ability to think for themselves!

Sorry, I titled this thread incorrectly. I am not in support of SE changing class names at all. Rather, I am interested in the implementation of classic FF classes in addition to what we have now. Sorry for the confusion.

While I like the idea of the FF:T system A LOT, I think that it would need a bit more tweaking to work for this game. Going with the idea than any class can equip any ability, maybe they should implement general "Job names" For example, if i equip a sword, shield, some sword skills, some curing spells, and some hate control abilities, I'd be a Paladin. If, instead of hate controlling abilities, i equip things like Bio and poison, I'm a Red Mage. The only issue I see with this relates to how gear affinity would work, but that could also be a factor in determining your job. Ex) Paladins need metal armor, Red Mages can equip leather or cloth armor, etc.

Personally im for the FFT type class system being implemented in FFXIV. The idea of leveling various classes and doing a quest to unlock an advance class (classic FF class) would be an interesting and amazing way of getting folks to try leveling the classes and it creates a goal for reaching those ranks you need to unlock the quest. So im all for that idea. Hopefully square enix is as well lol.

Please don't change the names of the current classes. There is absolutely no need to do so. As for implementing FFT specialization classes and what not thats okay, but keep the names the way they are.

I also do not agree in renaming them into the old names. Most of these classes are distinctly different than what we've seen before. The closest class currently is the Pugilist to the Monk, but from a lore standpoint the Monk is supposed to be more of a spiritual warrior (based highly on the D&D Monk) and the Pugilist is more what it's name suggests, just a fist fighter.

I would love to see advanced classes, and maybe the addition of the originals. I would prefer players to have to meet certain requirements but I'd also prefer that the 'flag' quests weren't as tedious as they were in FFXI, I'd rather them be more fulfilling.

Renaming the classes as they currently stand probably is a bad idea, however making the more classic classes sort of an advanced job complete with their own quests, guilds, and lore would be great.

I agree with leaving the current classes in a basic state and use a FFT type system to unlock advanced classes which carry with them the classic final fantasy names.
