This is what I proposed a few pages back and in another thread:I think I can agree with Kurokikaze, in that we can't just add in the Classic jobs without addressing the issues with the current ones, such as lack of uniqueness.
That said, I still think there's a way that both can be had. Current jobs being fixed, and Classic jobs being added, to create player flexibility and balance.
Spread the word. Two birds with one huge rock.
Maybe...but thats definitely not happening if the most recent interview is anything to go by:
From FFXIVcore recent interview with Yoshi-P -
If you take out the physical level system, do you plan on adding ability trees, sphere grid, licence grid, etc type systems (Final Fantasy spin on classic MMO character building) that will still allow us to build out our classes as we please? If so, what are your thoughts, if not, what are your thoughts on the whole physical leveling system in FFXIV?
We're not looking to copy what other MMOs are doing. But we are looking to move in that direction, and right now the battle team has two options that they're thinking of. And basically, they're battling against which one they're going to choose. We're going to be moving in a similar direction, but it's not something that copies another game.
And with that, we want to get back to the roots of the original Final Fantasyesque jobs like Dragoons and White Mages. So we're trying to figure out how to get that to that new type of system.
So expect something with a Square-Enix spin on it.
I dont think anyone is arguing against that, just arguing against straight changing Gladiator or Conjurer into traditional FF names without really altering the classes much...which definitely wont fix or help anything.I dont see why ppl say using a FFT system would mean that the "basic" classes we have now would be left behind......
if as a Black Mage (or whatever) i am a specialist, i can only use "Black magic", a White Mage can only use "White Magic", but as a CON i can use both, just not as well. So for low man stuff (like groups of 4) might it not be best to have someone doing damage and healing instead of just a healer or DD? Say im running a group dungeon or instance, that doesnt really require a fully dedicated healer (bc my PLD tank can heal himself, and i have a MRD that can use bloodbath to regen his HP) so i could run as a WHM and sit on my thumb inbetween heals or i could run as a CON and throw some tier III nukes or something.
can just bc Black mage or White mage becomes an advanced job, does not mean that CON cant get a new identity with the implementation of the "FFT" system..... they could get some class-specific items/abilities that make them unique as well, specialization =/= better, just different people need to remember that

I am not a fan of that specific suggestion, but only because I think it limits us unnecessarily much. In other games there are for example traits and skills for my class I will never see simply because reallocation has been made so difficult. That is not how it should be.
Your picture, as is, is much like what Yoshida has proposed before too. It's either specialization or advanced classes at this point. However, with more flexibility as there should be. I could see them limit the customization possibilities a bit more than currently, but not much is needed.
