I think most know that he does. Not everyone, however, believes PR is a bad thing or necessarily indicative of dishonesty, just the sad cynical ones.

Unrealistic, Unsubstantiated, and Unverifiable.
Typical internet rumor to get a rise out of the vs13 and ARR fanbases.
Elexia, you should know better than to believe in this stuff. This goes beyond merely critique of Square Enix and throws you into the gigantic short-bus of 'anything that makes SE look bad, I fully believe in and support!' crowd.
Also, your argument that 1.0 is bleeding money and should be canceled got pulled when the operational costs of running these servers are, in fact, continuing as Yoshida chose to re-open the servers after the server shutdown on the 11th. Hard to say they're closing up shop to save money if they're reopening the shop again. Only difference is that nothing beyond this point travels over.
This level of cynicisim invites some very dark thoughts from the recesses of my mind. Similar to my distaste for burbles.
Shenanigans!
They are on track to an Q1 2013 release.
and
A July release is way too far off, especially with all the public attention XIV has been getting. It's in Alpha/Beta now.
July I would believe for the first major patch/add-on/expansion. Not for the relaunch.
Except no one said it was to save money. There's no reason to close the servers in the first place if they wanted to keep 1.0 around forever. Even you can agree with that. Unless you can tell me honestly that SE isn't bleeding money and XIV's poor performance isn't a cause, I'll believe you, otherwise financial reports are pretty telling and pretty much every project but XIV of SE's has done well, they didn't do as well as Kingdom Hearts or FFXI or FFVII, but they did well.
They also stated when they bring the servers back up it not only won't have development or maintanence (meaning the cost of operations is lower than even now) it won't stay up if the login numbers are too low since the threshold to even bring them up was pretty low to begin with (30%.)
Also, it's more the irony of people saying SE should take as long as they need to make sure they get ARR right, but won't accept a July release lol, besides, we already had confirmation on:
Wada and Yoshida has both said in the past SE as a whole is basically working on ARR to make this right. There's zero reason to disbelieve this let alone there's zero reason it should even affect the basic consumer, what does a team being pulled from a project to work on the one you're looking for have to do with you? You don't work for SE, you're not losing money or time or sleep.staff have been moved to FFXIV: A Realm Reborn until it gets released.
We already knew they planned to have most of the large transitions and betas (Open specifically) by March of 2013, usually Open Beta means the release is pretty much the same month or the next. What's the difference between March and July? You still have to wait for the release.FFXIV: A Realm Reborn releasing in July 2013 is much later than the originally planned Q1 2013.
So it's not cynicism, it's people refusing to accept they'll most likely have to wait longer for this MMO. So maybe people should stop saying SE should "take as long as they want" and start bitching at them to release it asap? Otherwise it's pretty ironic people would get bent out of shape over a summer release when they feel that way.
"You can take as long as you want SE as long it's before March."
..Yeah.
@Timeline:
They are not on track. Alpha was supposed to have started by the end of September or Early October and Beta, as per Rep Responses, was supposed to have begun in November which means that initially they planned to stagger the PC and PS3 releases slightly. Besides, we never once had a release date, just "coming 2013" so how can you disprove that July isn't it? SE has delayed and pushed back things numerous time, especially in regards to patches..why would the release of their 2nd chance be exempt?

July works for me.
Get it right the first time.
A good marketing trick is considered "good" when it's working. It obviously does.
I'm not saying he doesn't care about the game, or what we think, but seriously expecting him to leak us information that we are not supposed to get is naive.
edit: actually, after reading the Japanese version of the letter, there is no mention of him leaking anything whatsoever. So him getting in trouble is just something added in translation.

I can only be happier if they work more on ARR, they cannot fail a single piece of the puzzle this time.
How long does it take to make a game?
How long is a piece of string?
