Wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be to true. Yoshi-P may have bitten a bit more than he could chew. You can't build top-tier MMORPG in a year and a half. The original FFXIV team had five years, and yet...

5 years yeah..but considering some of the stuff from 1.0 is being carried over, such as models, motion capture movements, music, lore. certain textures, voice work etc

Modeling and rigging characters, texturing clothes etc, and applying motion capture movements to them is over 6 months of work alone. Adding new motions to already rigged characters for 2.0 is not as lengthy since its just the data being applied to model skeletons.

I highly doubt this rumor to be accurate. Too fishy lol I think I'll just wait until Yoshi-p gives us a more solid timeline. Either way I won't lose sleep.

You know what, i dont care how long it takes as long as its done right...i want to be able to immerse myself in FFXIV for a good couple of years. Id rather wait 6 months and be blown away than have the game rushed again and flop because SE conceded to player demands to have it released early.

Yoshi should have at least given a date he is aiming for, even if he also has disclaimers in regards to unexpected problems in beta...

It may take 8-9 months if he wants to make more content- which is the only reason i can see he would want that long.

If Yoshi really gave a crap about his players, he should grow a pair and give us a date. its like the only thing anyone really cares about.

I think we've got more than enough evidence that Yoshi cares about the players. He's always letting us know what he can and as far as I can tell he's attempting to give us what we want in ARR. As for a date, it's probably hard for them to narrow it down like that when they've got so much to do before they can actually release it. It's definitely not up to Yoshi when that happens since he has to work with others to get the game to the point where it can be ready. Cut them some slack, especially when they have no control over certain aspects.

I dont accept that. Like i said, even if he has disclaimers or he thinks it might change- hell a wild guess would be good enough..

surely he has a date he is aiming for even if he thinks it may change. As long as he makes it clear he cant give a solid date i dont think people would get mad if it turned out to be inaccurate.

My point is, this is THE question, he shouldnt be dodging it like he is. if he really has no idea then even that would be something to say.

@rogue they can't give you a date because they plan to take all the time they need, which is conflictual to giving a date. Also, if they give a date and then push it back, the reaction would be far worst <_<

Now if this "leak" was dated and actually meant that vsXIII people were helping with stress-testing the pre-alpha build, I would understand, but... *insert huge list of inconsistencies here*
