If Urianger is this Paragon, then he would be directly responsible for the Seventh Umbral Era... which begins with Dalamud's fall... which is an event that was foretold in the very prophecy he was spouting when he first showed up. Perhaps the Archons are responsible for making sure the Umbral Eras hit at the precise time that we can deal with them, nothing more, and nothing less. That would explain Louisoix smile at the last moment... the ritual fails, and he understands that this isn't about him; that his story is over, but he has done everything he needed to do to ensure the Seventh Astral Era will come.
Yeah I thought about that too, but for now I WANT to assume they are 'good' guys. Good in the sense that they don't want countless Eorzeans to die just so a new age can begin. But yeah good point that Urianger might now be the cause (or lead to the cause) of now 2 Umbral Eras (Sixth and Seventh). Least he's got a winning record.

I wished we had a time line we could look at and see the different times of the Astral and Umbral Eras. Also I wonder if this is just an Aldenard/Vyldabrand thing or if its associated with the entire Hydaelyn world.

Better a small percentage of survivors than a total percentage of casualties, I guess. The hardships faced in umbral eras seem inevitable, so if someone is triggering them, as you say, at least these "horrible" people have a 100% recovery rate. Big picture. Again, this is just one possible outcome of one possible theory made EONS before we have enough information to begin making such an assessment. Just a thought.

I'm under the distinct impression that once an umbral era starts, it's not long before the whole world is feeling the hurt... Not that this point of view has been embraced by everyone in the world yet...
