Well, if he's never mentioned again, we can create whatever story we want for him.

But if SE decides to have us cross paths with these CG stars in the future, perhaps he didn't quit and go home and get crushed by a meteor or set on fire by Bahamut.

Perhaps he defected to the empire. Perhaps he was part of the Ascian influence in Limsa Lominsa!

It would be great to see him re-appear as a traitor. Perhaps in an expansion pack cutscene, we could see him become a similar force to what we're there to fight, and it would parallel our own progress through that story.
