This raises a new question about the echo for me. Does it work like parceltongue in Harry Potter?

What I mean is, we can understand every language on Hydaelyn, but interestingly, the Ixal/Sylphs/etc also understand us. Does this mean we are instinctively speaking their language without realising it?

Or do the beastmen understand the language of Eorzea but either choose not to or are incapable of speaking it themselves?

I think it works like in early Harry Potter...specifically like in the first scene he speaks it to a Cobra , Ron asks him where did he learn it or how and Harry is like "Huh? what are you talking about i was speaking normally with it" even tho later on it contradicts itself by Rob been able to speak it...the point is we speak normally but when the sound of our voice reaches the beastment's ears its already "translated" to their language and same the way around . We don't learn to speak all the languages in Hydaelyn ..the sound of our voice becomes universal and is understood no matter who receives it and this leads me to think who gave us the Echo was Siren

The Siren theory is one I've always liked; in the early days we had very little to work with, but what things we did have fit Siren very well. I'm not sure it retains the strength it once did, though. Ferne seems comically dismissive of the idea (despite the establishing of Siren as a running joke, which cracks me up big time) and we have the "heed the crystal's call" (suggestive of a sentient mothercrystal as one of the entities in play). I've decided to stop trying to figure that one out, for now - at least until we enter BETA.

Well, it might not be that bad. lol I'm kinda leaning toward Gramul's idea. The Kanji is a contradictory phrase... one interpretation yielded "vacant presence". I'm hoping that it means how were "there" for the Seventh Umbral Era's beginning but "not there" for the aftermath and recovery.

But it could also be interpreted as a very bad thing.... And other interpretation for vacant or empty is "void"!

Surely, they wouldn't call my beautiful Hiir a "voidsent being". She is not voidsent!

It could be how the people who stayed behind refer to us lore-wise "those who vanished/those who's presence is vacant in the passage of time". Probably just an in-game title, since they can't really call us "Legacy players" lol

Had a glance at Connect! On. Some nice details in the rather long interview:

There are about 40 mini pet things (like the Baby-Behemoth) ready. We'll know exactly what role they serve in phase 1 of the beta. The 3 things in the Year of the Snake illustration are included in that 40. (For what purpose exactly has got me thinking. Some people on 2ch are thinking they might have some kind of retainer role!)

Gear-sets have a completely new system from what was shown, I guess they didn't like how it had some restrictions. Will get to test in phase 3.

Housing will be released immediately after launch.

2013 will bring in Housing and PvP (certain). There's no certainty that the long raids will be concluded in 2013 though. There should be 1~2 primal battles implemented too.


They're in talks regarding the advancement of raids and so on via Live updates. They're not sure if it'll happen (Perhaps just Yoshi-P's thoughts) but something to do with the recovery of Alamigo.

The place where you'll find Odin is indeed the black shroud. I'm guessing it's a place we've not yet seen. He's described as not being a normal interactive primal, he is one who has no recollections, having forgotten the meaning of his existence. It won't be a normal battle.

It wasn't shown clearly in the opening movie but actually an alarming amount of people survived the 7th Umbral era (Bahamut's attack). To these survivors we, the adventurers who were transferred into the future, are known as "hollow beings".

Behemoth will be tackled via the FATE system. There'll be many steps to go through in the fight to defeat him. Made it so it'll be fun with a large number of people. Will be in at launch.

You won't be able to just "walk" right into Crystal Tower. (I'm assuming this means there are pre-requisite quests)

Sahagin's will be in at launch.

As regions expand they will probably add more primals per new beastman tribe or something.

As for changing jobs in dungeons being possible or not, they're thinking it'll be good to be able to change in between content.

Players who have come from 1.0 and new players will be treated differently by NPCs. It's not a big difference and it will even out at later stages in the story. Legacy players will kind of be having the "stronger new game" kind of thing going.

Some other stuff was talking about the functions of the smart phone application.

Oh, and a question was asked about DRG having a pet, which was replied to with "Not just Dragoons..." (Hmm. )

Regarding keeping in touch with the users: For In-game purposes the development team are going to establish a free company. He encourages players to come give them a belting in PvP. As for out of the game, they're considering some kind of small round-table events and so on (ala. Vanafest, I suppose.)

When are flying mounts coming? - If the Ahriman is good, it's just a matter of being on the stand-by list for implementation. (I'm not sure this means it's a "real" flying mount)

Any other secrets from A New Beginning trailer? - The warrior left something behind 5 years ago (Bravura lol)

3. Who is the mysterious primal that scared the Garleans away?

What is this question referring to? After Bahamut is released, the Garleans leave Aldenard? Can someone link/explain to me what leads to asking this question?

I kinda was wondering about Odin being Louisoux too. That makes fighting Odin really sad of course, if it's true.

I think that Anima theory is a perfect example of how we ended up at Siren for Echo-giver in the past; it just fits so well now, doesn't it!?

I still think it's most likely that the primal that scared the Empire out of Eorzea at the border of The Black Shroud is the new Black Shroud Resident Primal ... Odin.

Not that I'm not dying to see Anima turn up in something again; though she's extremely heavily based in Catholic lore (See: Anima Sola), as was most of FFX, so I imagine it would be hard to pin her in the ancient Greek-based Eorzea.
