It probably goes without saying that the Marauder quest, along with every other quest in the game prior to Yoshi-P's arrival, were incomplete and a lot more could have been done with them.

Probably what they mean by the original quests being "scrapped". Probably just rewritten so there aren't any inconsistencies, or made clearer when they take place.

I like how you mention that doing older quests are basically like "flashbacks". It's like when you play Assassin's Creed, and it tells you the year of the mission you're currently doing. So you know when it takes place.

Yes they do from the very beginning. Gridania is more clear as you even get light headed before following E-sumi to Gridania and you hear the last bit of "answers song" whereas in Ul'dah is only petals flying and Limsa Lominsa is the sight of the Sea Serpent.

Now (in November 2012), we have new information. This dragon was Midgardsormr, who was not a primal; the empire had met real primals before this on other continents; and SE sticks to their story about a primal stopping the advance. This means that either they're changing it up, or that we were left to draw false conclusions in the past. I can't stress this enough: in 2010, the dragon was nameless and could have been anything. In 2012 we know he's not a primal - but did Square Enix know that back then? We don't know.

The Lalafell NPC Yayatoki use to tell you about Midgarsormr being "summoned" by the Dravnians to do battle with the Garleans, talking about the Battle of Silvertear Skies. Sadly I don't have a screenshot of the conversation just my memory, now he only says:
"The red moon falls towards us? Hah. I place no faith in such rumors. If you would peddle doom, I suggest you speak to someone with a little less sense."
Which we all know Dalamud is and even npcs know lol. SE cover up maybe?

I'm working on the Ul'dah quests now and I'm uncovering a lot of juicy bits. Hopefully have it sometime tonight or tomorrow. So far now shadowless people.

Was it ever questioned that the Circle of Knowing posses the Echo? I remember Moose talking about Y'shtola using the Echo multiple times to make you think shes warping around ..or maybe that's one of her powers ...she can be wherever she wants to be. Anyways in the Gridania intro Papalymo understand Mooglespeak so he doesn't just posses the Echo he got the extra gift.

You mean the race that lives hundreds of years? lol i think he had time to learn it whereas Papalymo is not that old but maybe you are right . now that i think about it we take with us Papalymo and Yda into an Echo where we witness the kid setting the tree on fire and when we get out of it they don't know what just happened, Papalymo realizes its a power but not theirs and then he looks at you.

Just doin' mah part; wouldn't have been half as interesting without you guys hangin' around, too, though.

You also do it with a balloonfish in the Limsa quest and a Treant Vine in the Gridania quest, albeit with no jumping about during the sale part.

Actually, in Lisma, you do echo jump. Or Y'shtola does... One of you jumps into the other. Not sure, really, but I assume that you're the one doing all the jumping (no idea!). Guy tells you no one will come to his place if they hear there's a balloonfish in the larder and then WHOOSH, Y'shtola's standing next to you giving him the third degree.

Wait, there are multiple Echo past-jumps in Limsa Lominsa's? ... Is the second starshower a sign of it being fully activated?

There's an echo jump every time you hear the whoosh-whoosh in cutscenes. If you watch them over again looking for them, it'll be super clear when they start and finish (aside from the first one with the starshower). Even the NPC reactions will be much more obvious.

Almost the entire thing takes place in echoes. If you take out the time-travel, all you do is show up on a boat, get a room at The Mizzenmast, get rejected by the military, and go to work at Fisherman's Bottom as a teenager's escort.
