One thing I'm concerned about this point is what parts of 1.X will remain what we'd technically call "canon". Press releases and forum posts are kind of bi-polar about this issue, with the impressions being given that we'll "return" to the original storyline, which has been heavily "changed," with certain elements being "scrapped."

This is complicated because, yes, the game is being relaunched and rebuilt, but also what happened in the Sixth Astral Era is still technically history?

Just how much of what we went through is going to end up on the cutting room floor?

As for the nature of aether and primals and such, I think I'm about ready to make a post on that. Wrapping up some loose ends.

It's "grammaryes".... Dictionary.com spells it with one "m".

But if he weren't going to teach them how to use the key, why were the Sahagin cooperating with Travanchet at all? After all, Travanchet didn't share with the Knights of the Barracuda how to use the key. It was useless in their hands. Unless there was something in it for the Sahagin, I don't see why they would ally themselves with the Ascian.

The Leviathan summoning was already sorta scrapped when the unfortunately real-life events occurred. They WERE going to have Leviathan in the story, but Seal Rock disappeared into the mists again and didn't reappear.

I looked it up, didn't know about this word existing too. The meaning is similar to grimoire though, so I thought you meant that ._.

Well, maybe they cooperated to simply unseal him so that they could summon him later. I don't think you can summon sealed primals, as we saw in the old opening, ifrit&co were unsealed on midgardsomr's death, which allowed the tribes to summon them. I think something similar has to happen with Leviathan, too.

Yes, but only after they were taught to do so.

Let's be honest here, the primals aren't our buddies, the beast tribes that summon primals aren't our buddies either. Sisipu said that until Seal Rock showed up, Sahagin didn't bother Limsa Lominsa at all. Once it showed up, Sahagin burned down a village and killed everyone in it.

According to the sylphs, those to cross the border between corporal and aetherial are turned evil. They said their minds are clouded, the hearts are hardened and their souls darkened.

The folks wandering around teaching beasts tribes to summon can't be the "good guys". Whether they are Ascians or not... but the Ascians are the only bad guys aligned with beast tribes and on a mission to free a primal.

So, that's why I'm thinking Paragon and Ascian are related or even the same.

EDIT: And going further out on a limb, when Baelsar complained about the stench of shadow at Silvertear falls in the VA'ed cutscene of Forever Taken, maybe he was remembering how the primals were released during the battle there and it ruined their day which is another idea that could link Ascians and primal summoning together.

And considering that Yoshi revealed that the Empire cares more about killing beast tribes than conquering our lands, I don't think this storyline is going to completely disappear so it's worth looking at.

You look Hawt rolling on Lore ^_~. I think the Paragon is Urianger as he knew already about us and he was concerned in our safety. I have been pondering over why the rest of the Circle of Knowing let Urianger appear to be an enemy and let him be hunted for a while until later on is revealed he is part of the crew.

Indeed! I forgot you'd called it so soon, but I figured a big mess of things out (and realized I didn't know a few things I thought I did, as well) while working on a very intense project that's coming soon. I was planning on writing a "This is Your Enemy" article about Ascians as they're mentioned so seldomly, but between the Beta and the new trailer, Team Yoshi-P is going all out "This is Your Enemy."

This is what Gaius meant when he said, "[Eorzea] must be saved." Everything in on the Ascians. The Empire feels that if the world is going to be saved at all, they're not going to be able to waste time being diplomatic with people too stupid to understand what's going on. You can choose - submit to Imperial rule or lose the war. Either way you're not stopping them from taking this threat head on. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether the Garleans made the "Primals are here incidentally as part of a larger ascian plan" leap.

We'll see if Beta also eliminates my need to write the Archons article.

    It Kills with fire
"Hah! Those wooden-headed tree fondlers will have to do better than that if they hope to play the thalassocracy! All know it was our own Company of Heroes that slew Leviathan, and it's plain the Gridanians seek to supplement their feeble ranks with allies who might feasibly contend with a primal."

I'm guessing seal rock must have been opened and Leviathan summoned for him to be killed we were just not involved.

Yeah, I'm really hoping they don't scrap away everything from 1.0's story. And I sure help they don't scrap the Echo.

Hopefully what they meant by "scrapped" was that it is basically rebuilt so it flows faster. But pretty much the same plot is there, just faster paced.

Now recording Path of the Twelve cutscenes. Man were there a bunch in the original version.

Path of the Twelve has more CSs than Guild Companies' story line and well Minfilia will be in 2.0 so i assume the essence of it will be there as everything else ..what changed it all was Bahamut's destruction
