When do we transition from an Umbral to an Astral era? Is it when the huge threat is defeated / Disaster is quelled?
Or is it more prophetic?

I doubt midgardsormr will be revive in 2.0. I feel he's there like a statue to pay homage for what he had done to free the primals.
Also, I actually think its highly possible that it's Siren in that poster of primals during the last IV live letter broadcast.

No. You don't make a list of elemental summons that includes ifrit and ramuh but excludes shiva. It would become a huge "WTF SE?" moment, especially given the emphasis on fanservice.
I seriously don't get this obsession with Siren. It started when the collector's edition box art was published, making people ask "who might that be" and snowballed from there (yes, I've been around that long to have witnessed this), but that has since turned out to be Garuda.
All the uses of the term "siren" in-game have not only been more mundane, but notably plural. If anything the sirens of yore, as supposedly slewn by Mistbeard decades ago, would be a class of the Sahagin tribe.
If you have to assign where our talent for the Echo came from, it is most logically the Twelve, or more specifically, Althyk the Keeper (of time and space).

On the poster there is:It is Siren as you can see here:

Compare it to the poster
Odin riding Sleipnir in the bottom middle, Leviathan bottom left(our left and right), Garuda middle left, ifrit top left. Ramuh bottom right, Titan middle right, Shiva Top right.
I zoomed in on the picture and noticed two reasons shes Shiva and not Siren.
1. No Face paint or markings of anykind.
2. She has ears Siren doesnt have ears or rather her head wings are her ears?
Edit:
Or are they even ears they could just be ice o,O';;

I think the painting technique is just different from concept art gives that impression is ice but as you can see the green-ish feathers on her head reach up to Bahamut's wing ....i really don't mind if it is Shiva tho lol :P not arguing here bcuz i like one more than other , but i rather Shiva be a Hawttie like FFX'sOn the poster there is:

I agree that the one on the box is Garuda. The feet give it away.
I also agree that the one on the poster is Shiva; the head-piece is (to me) clearly ice, not feathers
The "obsession" with Siren is generally just a theory that gets stated as "too many coincidences to not be true" very often.
Now, between:
"Are you sure it wasn't a siren?" - said by guy on docks after hearing the songstress
The harp that plays during the songstresses song when you awaken
The harp on the Astalicia that plays the song that plays when you awaken
The Sanguine Sirens being near this harp player
The unnamed primal image that looks like Siren from FFXIII
Said primal image not being included on the poster
The two terms referred to your situation are that you are "Woken" and have "The Echo," which correlate to Siren's main attack, Hope Song, which silences you (silence cured by Echo drops/herbs and sounds like something you'd call Answers), and sleep.
I'm not saying it's truth - but it's the best idea I've got so far.

Right now I'm inclined to believe it's Shiva - otherwise the Gigas (tentative name) tribe has no primal, whereas the Sahagin do; and both were shown in the concept (along with what we believe to be Siren). It looks to me like ice reaching upwards, and we see a few major differences - no face paint, inclusion of ears, and what looks to be a black collar where Siren has smoothed green plumage.
Right now I'm leaning towards (but not trying to propagate) the idea that a primal is messing with us... encroaching on The Twelve's territory. Remember, the Echo has nothing to do with the Seventh Umbral Era or the Grand Company's storyline. The Echo is part of the main scenario, which has a very different focus. Every single mission drills it into our heads - The Echo might not be from The Twelve, the primals darken your heart and make you violent and should never be allowed corporeal form, over and over. I think that one is trying to gain support with us, and that we're going to have to resist it as we've resisted the others.
But that's for another thread in another time.

Whoever gave us the Echo is female tho that's for sure (at least for you the player) the voice that tell us to "feel, think, hear" is of a woman ...so who could that be? i agree the main story around the Echo in 1.0 is separated from guild company and such and is quite different too. Will Yoshi-P continue it on ARR tho?Right now I'm inclined to believe it's Shiva - otherwise the Gigas (tentative name) tribe has no primal, whereas the Sahagin do; and both were shown in the concept (along with what we believe to be Siren).
