I'm going to go ahead and side with Elexia here. While it is certainly fun to see that mobs are spawning at the gates of Ul'dah, or deepvoid mobs spawning at even more camps, it's still nothing interesting compared to what you'd be expecting to see.

Oh, things like radical landscape changes, for instance.

I was hoping more would be happening, like invasions into Uldah and NPCs dying left and right. But that's probably not possible with the way the servers are structured.

I have a feeling though that Atomos is going to turn all the crystals orange before this is over. He's at Camp Bearded Rock sucking on the crystal right now, just as he was when he first appeared. So his attacks are in 3 stages:

1st: Atomos is over crystal unkillable, Deepvoids spawn. (currently Camp Bearded Rock)

2nd: Crystal turns orange, and has a 0 anima cost. Atomos spawns and is killable, along with deepvoids. (Camp Black Brush, Dragonhead)

3rd: Atomos doesn't even show. Deepvoids are everywhere. (Camp Blue Fog, Glory, etc)

Why exactly would you expect radical landscape changes happen *before* dalamud hits exactly?

Some people and lack of the most basic semblance of logic...

As a matter of fact, they don't have any obligation to do anything. They don't even need to encourage us to try ARR, because anyone that stuck with the game long enough to be able to log in today, will definitely try it.

They're doing something, and it's actually very stylish. But of course some people are never happy.

Why you offer him Crutches then? ( since you know, what he said is considered a crutch to you). You expect brand new spanking mobs to come out of Atomos or something, if you were waiting for something like that, then you wasted your time :P. Of course they are going to reuse mobs for the grand finale.

But you know, everyone has a crutch, it's your spine (backbone), if you didn't have it well it be hard to walk :P

They have the ability to spawn enemies in the cities at least, probably not kill NPCs but they can bring more to the cities. You'd think by now the Garleans would have shocktroops in the cities.

Well we haven't reached the finale yet, so hang in there.

I wouldn't hold my breath for major landscape changes other than Dalamud, though.

Calling you on the fact that your seething negativity has been proven wrong just again isn't a crutch.

Pretty sure the expectation comes from the 2.0 PDFs stating precisely this. I have a feeling the falling of Dalamud is what they're actually referring to, though.

There's that crutch again. Have you ever played a FF game besides XIV? I'm guessing no. Landscape changes can happen by the mere presence of Dalamud. FFIX for example, the mist covered the world simply because of the Iifa tree roots being present, it didn't require wide spread growth until they needed an excuse to cut down on disk data and block off the other locations on the final disk.

I find it kind of ironic you want to bring in logic to a fantasy then fail to remember, assuming you actually have played a FF game before that a lot of illogical shit happens all the time, you know, like the planet using spiritual energy to try to prevent a meteor from hitting it? Yeah that saved the Dinosaurs irl, right?

Sadly, this was stated to happen by the final patch (1.23), it was suppose to really allude to the map redesign even before Dalamud hits, if not..they really screwed up on the wording lol.
