I mean even then its just a nice memory aid, I guess it would be hard mode to remember every little bit about every little monster but i'm assuming there's not going to be a test.Well considering that they seem to want to spoon-feed the players all this information on the monsters tab itself I don't see how adding some extra information reall demeans it to "Easy mode".
The ammount of data displayed could be limited until meeting certain requirements such as until you actually kill the monsters all you know is it's level, agro type, and linkable or not.
Personally I'm OCD about filling out things like Bestiaries with every tid-bit of information possible, it adds to my imersion in the game and gives me hours upon hours of fun just doing said task.
If done right the bestiary even without a reward could give players "something to do" I mean I personally would log in and start mashing whatever I must to get a small bit of lore, and a completion check in my bestiary. People will go bananas when new mobs are introduced I'm downright amazed this hasn't been done in a MMO before "that I know of" really considering how well they cater to the OCD in everyone.
Come on Yoshi-P show us you got what it takes to make another first and great idea for the MMO market!
I like this idea. In regards to weaknesses etc - I believe the information should only be obtained once said action is performed (Like in FFXIII where the info screen would complete as you found weaknesses intentionally or by mistake when not using Libra).
This would also assist in people being able to document in-game where is best to return to for mobs at certain levels (Still keeping the trial & error type exploring for mobs for newer players, or allowing more veteran players to be able to give guidance in parties based on info they have).
Whilst I do like to have information sources like ZAM etc to refer to for certain information, I'd like to see SE implement some in-game stuff that reduces the amount of alt-tabbing time. This breaks the 'immersion' that lots seem to carry on about.
Bestiary, Recipe catalog etc would definitely reduce this, and give the game a more full feeling. I liked in XI how NPC's would give clues about things (like the crafting NPC's making suggestions on crafts near your lvls etc) and it would be nice to have an MMO that could be played mostly or wholly in-game, without the need or less of a need to refer to information outside of the game.
I just feel this would be a great way to add some extra diversity in the game there are so many ways to go about it and almost none of them are what I would call a "bad idea"
I know I really shouldn't shamelessly bump my own suggestion topic but I feel there may be a few new members who might think this a solid idea and help get some well deserved thumbs up T-T.
