I say let them, not really the kind of people I'd want to play with anyways.
But I do hope that this at least lets everyone test the waters of the new servers before they decide those milleseconds are worth ditching the server they have been playing on for years now.
I think they stated awhile ago that the current servers are 1.0 code running on 2.0 hardware? That's what I've been going about for.Sort of, It was meant to illustrate that the 1.0 servers are not the 2.0 servers. I doubt they'd have ARR running on a VM, or vice versa, 1.0 running on a VM so that the world would stay on the same physical machines. I suppose there was probably a more eloquent way to state it.
LMAO YES!! It is nonsense to read and listen or believe to the DEV"S own posts. Or Yoshi P for that matter. If you actually just read their own links they have clearly made a Distiction between Data Centers and what People understand from any other game as a Regional Server. So I guess if it's complete nonsense than either A. Just wanted to confuse the crap out of everyone or B. they didn't want to call them Regional Servers because they didn't want to hear people whine. Unfortunately they clearly #$!@ that up.
REGARDLESS I don't care about the freaking hardwhere or where the !$!@ it's at because it was QUITE clear in the DEV's posts that THEY DON"T KNOW if existing characters will get to transfer ANYWHERE PERIOD!!
in case you can't take the time to even go back to my own post where i have linked what they have said about it since the middle of Septmber here is the one that is truely relevant to what everyone wants to know which is can we transfer to any existing server. Because if you haven't figured out you're not going to a brand new one yet without a new character then seriously I don't care anymore you people just want to whine to whine you're not even taking the time to read the information available to you

Why? because THIS

Before we finalize details for current players wishing to transfer, we'll need to consider how we'd want to handle returning players. We'll be looking at the options with regard to the Beta Test conditions.[/
So... I'm done if you guys can't take this information and realize we're waiting for more information and looks like we may not get it till Beta or beyond then frankly....

Less JP Only, the better. I hope all this testing Irons out all those issues were language barrier made it impossible to do content. At least in SOME peoples eyes.
It doesn't make sense if the servers are in japan while the data centers are regional. That's like a NA client has high latency to the server since they are in japan. Then the server will have to suffer high latency again communicating with the data center.
It also doesn't make sense to call it a Data Center if it really is just a Regional Server. Why make the differentciation. Is this really just a matter of semantics? I get Data Centers house "servers" as in hardware. But when you talk about Worlds they are also housed on A server. (hardware) because that's why one can have a problem and not others. So I again ask why call it a Data Center and not Regional Servers because I'm sorry the arguements made say there really is no difference.
Language barriers are made of cheap recycled cardboard. Some people.... they just refuse to get through it for their own personal reasons. Me, my 1st moogle kill, 1st AV/CC 5 chest run, 1st Hamlet defense, and 1st garuda kill and every one after were in JP parties (all pugs too!), some were listed as "JP Only". And, they all know I aint Japanese.

I swear, people on these forums make it seem like "simple" things are rocket science and create absurd ideas and pose them as "logical". To be frank, this is what is happening (in TLDR form):
1. Our Data was saved.
2. Servers are purchased/rented in different Regions
3. 2.0 data is being placed on them
4. Using Server Population servers are named (i.e. Aegis goes to Japan due to high JP population, Ragnarok goes to EU)
5. At game launch we connect onto a login server, re-create character and choose an "existing server"
6. I go to _____ because the high NA population (meaning it is in the US)
7. Enjoy 2.0 on the region/server of choice
I'd eliminate "cost" factors as much as possible as they are going to do nearly whatever it takes to make this not suck due to damaged image.
