Decommissioning the current hardware and buying brand new hardware and sending it to the new regional data centers (which they're going to have to do anyway) is an option too.

Let's not pretend to know the inner workings of SE or make assumptions on things. They'll tell us what we want to know when they're ready. We can sit here and say what we want to hear until we're blue in the face, but that's not going to change their plans at the end of the day.

But everyone is assuming things right now :/ why not just throw in the assumption that they are moving the servers to an orbital space station.....
