I wonder if that will stop us from starting over on the new servers. Hm...

No you can make a - NEW- character on any server you want. So long as it is not a full server.
Just our old characters will be prevented from ruining a persons experience who doesn't want to deal with being last to the party or who doesnt want to deal with possible unfairness (easy garuda weapons, easy leveling, maybe easy gil, ect.)

Well... in all honesty I can see why people are getting confused. They definately have said some very specific things about Severs and worlds. However the one thing they have NOT said or even answered is about transfering your EXISTING character between CURRENT EXISTING servers.
So... this is what I gather....

In this post I read this as Data Centers are what are in the regions, not the servers. Servers = Worlds. So Servers in Japan (makes sense that's how they maintain them they would have to hire a lot more staff to maintain servers in all regions as they are on call 24/7 incase of issues) But Data Centers are located in the specific regions.
A little of my own personal view. The data centers are just there to assisst in real time game play but anything that is static and stored or saved is server side in Japan. Take the people out of the equation and the "World' is sitting in Japan is how it was explained to me.

All that is clear here is that EXISTING users can NOT go to NEW servers. Users does mean existing characters in this case there is another link that will explain that. Also that at some point there will be a world transfer system similar to FFXI

IF you desperatedly want to be on a brand new server you CAN!! You get to make a new character and start over to do so. New users can chose from any server new or old so they can join your existing character as long as the server doesn't get full.

This just reiterates that existing characters can't move to brand new servers. Also it sounds like Bayohne is getting a little put off with people's blatant speculations. I dont blame him!!

So this is the real question everyone is tryng to get at. Can existing characters choose a different existing world. Well guess what... Shut it... (I kidd I kidd) They don't know yet XD they'll get back to us lol from other information in other links it sounds like they won't know till after beta starts. They're trying to assess the situation.
However this post http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...1#post840646"] dated 9/24/2012 also posted by Bayohne is slightly contradictory to that statement. BUT I'd go with the newest information available which is... they don't know yet...
My personal opinion. There is no reason to allow existing characters to move AT launch. Not only for the sake of horribly scewing server populations and loads but for the fact that I highly doubt even currently all servers see the exact same economic situation so allowing people to move could hinder or hurt them.
Also you may find once 2.0 starts up that the latency and lag is so low to non existant there is no need to move. Everything about ARR is suppose to make the game more effcient that said test the waters before jumping sihp

Well said.
I agree: I think the best thing for Square to do is allow everyone to log back in to their existing World Servers once 2.0 Starts, try out 2.0, with its brand-new netcode, new server structures, etc., and let everyone try for themselves how good or bad the New 2.0 Gameplay is on their existing Worlds.
Hopefully we *do* see some good improvements and it might be good enough for some to want to stick together instead of separating.
And for those that want to move, that's great for them.

Some(many) people dont and wont even care how good the new servers are, they just want to move regional as soon as possible.....Hi Nikkita,

I say let them, not really the kind of people I'd want to play with anyways.
But I do hope that this at least lets everyone test the waters of the new servers before they decide those milleseconds are worth ditching the server they have been playing on for years now.

LMAO YES!! It is nonsense to read and listen or believe to the DEV"S own posts. Or Yoshi P for that matter. If you actually just read their own links they have clearly made a Distiction between Data Centers and what People understand from any other game as a Regional Server. So I guess if it's complete nonsense than either A. Just wanted to confuse the crap out of everyone or B. they didn't want to call them Regional Servers because they didn't want to hear people whine. Unfortunately they clearly #$!@ that up.
REGARDLESS I don't care about the freaking hardwhere or where the !$!@ it's at because it was QUITE clear in the DEV's posts that THEY DON"T KNOW if existing characters will get to transfer ANYWHERE PERIOD!!
in case you can't take the time to even go back to my own post where i have linked what they have said about it since the middle of Septmber here is the one that is truely relevant to what everyone wants to know which is can we transfer to any existing server. Because if you haven't figured out you're not going to a brand new one yet without a new character then seriously I don't care anymore you people just want to whine to whine you're not even taking the time to read the information available to you

Why? because THIS

Before we finalize details for current players wishing to transfer, we'll need to consider how we'd want to handle returning players. We'll be looking at the options with regard to the Beta Test conditions.[/
So... I'm done if you guys can't take this information and realize we're waiting for more information and looks like we may not get it till Beta or beyond then frankly....
/throws her hands up
