the main draw of this game was the friendships made, Even though a lot of them ahve stopped playing we still keep in regular contact outside the game. A real friendship is going to continue regardless.

Kowen Raubahn:
Me and Kowen met on a forum, when we were in the Alpha. I added him on Skype and now we talk about XIV, Gaming Life, the universe and just about everything until stupid hours of the morning (For me at least, seeing as I'm from the UK). Back in the beta, we'd explore Eorzea together and that is my most cherished memory of XIV, just exploring with a really good friend and taking in the sights. We've done lots of content together still just explore with every new patch to see what's changed. These days we play GW2 and do the same things. Explore and have fun. For all of XIV's flaws I can never hate it... It let me meet one of my best friends and I'm sincerely thankful for it. I can't really articulate what I mean without sounding like a sap, but there it is.
To me, this is what Final Fantasy should be, meeting lifelong friends to go adventuring with. I can't wait to adventure in ARR to explore the beauty, endure the hardships and enjoy the fun that the new world has to offer, with a staunch ally at my side ready to watch my back and give his unique perspectives on the world unrolling in front of our feet.
It's a new world after all.

There are many people who shaped and changed my FFXIV life considerably and I hope nobody gets annoyed by my long post.
The people are (kind of) in a chronological order unless they were on a screenshot together with someone else.
Rhaya Nuin
My dear RL friend - after so many years playing different games or not playing at all, it was really great to start in a new world together. Of course you were the first person I met and you shaped me the most out of all the people I've met.
I remember convincing you to start in Limsa Lominsa with me even though you loved Gridania way more..I guess "Sorry for being so selfish?" For the first time in my life I started a game as a tanking class to protect you, the squishy archer in the back row and the way I look today is all because of that decision. We've always had a bit of rivalry between us and thanks to that I put through with hours upon hours of tedious grinding or fighting the same primal over and over again. Thank you for motivating me by killing Dodos faster or by reaching a higher level than me
Buritoslicer Buritosandwich
I've got to know you a bit on this forum, remembered your recognizeable name and when I ran around in Limsa Lominsa very late at night when few people were there I saw that name again and decided to randomly talk to you. You were very nice and funny and even invited me and Rhaya into your Linkshell, CounterPost.
We learned a lot from you; without all the helpful bits of information we might have left the game back then when we were just starting out and things started to get difficult and very confusing.
You also helped me get rid of my fear of talking on vent in a language which is not my native language even though I wanted to sink into the ground after a 10 minute dialouge of me trying to pronounce the word "axe" and you only understanding "eggs"..x_X"
Today we are no longer playing together because you are on Sargatanas now and I'm on Ragnarok but outside of the game I'm still keeping contact to CounterPost and hopefully we will meet each other again in ARR when creating a second character is free.
Wakaba Lungberg
The leader of my precious linkshell Tears of Dragons!
When Rhaya and me were trying out crafting for the first time at Camp Bearded Rock Rodgar Dalmar was searching for German speaking newbies and we decided to join the German LS he invited us into. It took me months to realize that the nice guy who asked us if we wanted to form a grind party with him the next day around Cedarwood against some Dodos - Waka - was actually the leader, not Rodgar
Wakaba, you have been part of almost every great memory I have of this game; you were always there, you were always helping and you put up with my selfishness all this time. We did small Ifrit together, first Toto-Rak together, you even got me my first normal Ifrit win when I was too afraid to join any party. At some point it seems you even trusted Rhaya and me enough to make us your co-leaders. I hope I didn't disappoint you so far^^°
I'm also very happy to have seen you do things younger members were too late to see; like..actually leveling a class
Thank you for being a constant in my life in Eorzea. (But I'm still angry about all the pants you broke!)
Quichy Sturmbruch
You've been there even before I joined ToD but it wasn't until the 30ies that we met. You wanted to help Rhaya out getting her bow from the NM in Nanawa Mines aaand...back then, you still enjoyed being conjurer.
You hopped on and off all the time and sometimes I've seen you more often on this forum than ingame but when you were online you were the kind of WHM who singlehandedly healed us through the most dangerous situations.
In discussions we rarely had the same opinion about ANYTHING regarding FFXIV but we still got along fine
I hope to see you a lot more in ARR which will hopefully grant all your dreams, even if they aren't mine as well.
Geumran Utym, Ljuke Avel and Auster Odell
You guys were the funniest people I've ever metMy heart is still broken that Gumgum never fell in love with me just because I'm easy prey..*hurt*
I sadly don't have a picture of Aus (I mean one on which more than his name can be seen;P) but I mean all of you when I say that I loved all those nights we spent talking for hours upon hours until I fell asleep on the keyboard. LJ was the first one to shock me and spark the fear of naked dancing Lalafell in me, though!
But I also owe you guys my first tries (and wins) on harder content like Cutter's Cry so I guess it's fine
James Schneider
Soon after ToD moved over to Ragnarok I was picked up by you.
I was still sad to have lost the people from CounterPost but at the same time I was terribly lonely at night after the normal European players went to bed.
After joining a late night Ifrit party I was invited into your linkshell, Limit Break.
Our dialouge that night ("You will never have the first place in my heart!") became a running joke but you never got mad at me for putting your gentle offers down because I was doing some stuff with ToD instead of you
I'm very thankful for that and also for taking me to play with the big guys (like Garuda) despite my bad equipment^^
Special thanks go to Noctis Caelum for being the nicest member of Limit Break (besides James) who always looked out for me and talked a little extra to me.
Canabi Kuma, Anarya Felizitas, Dinalph Nuit, Ponti Flux, Marc Wellenbrecher, Tribun Exx
I met all of you when you joined ToD and you all became reliable members, getting helped and helping others yourself
I thank you for letting me rediscover my basic adventurer's joys like the older, smaller parts of content or the exploration of Eorzea.
I'm especially thankful for your help on my close to impossible goal to get the stronghold NM achievement before the final save^-^
Canabi, you are an awesome tank (and a good whitemage as well even if you don't believe it!) and besides all the nights you spent listening to my complaints and thoughts and being my best gossip buddy, that's what I remember the most about our time together - how great you protected me on our journey to the most far-off corners of Eorzea!
Thank you for all the fashion tips, Ana. Talking to another girl in teamspeak was very nice and refreshing
I just wish you get more self-confidence for ARR because really, you are able to join and beat endgame content; don't think so lowly of yourself!
The whole Tears of Dragons LS
Especially Levin Den, Yukiko Kuroshima, Kasimir Goldberg and Lakryma Tyental.
Levin and Kasi for their "naked" pictures which made me freak out and the long discussions about Dalamud and the world as a whole.
Yuki for proving to me that an initial dislike can turn into friendship. I still disagree with lots of stuff you say on the forums and often don't understand half of it but I like you a lot now
Of course everyone else as well!
Other people kind of important to me were the Deluxe brothers, Natsch, Luna, Alicia, Vivi Doomage, Avamaria Phonix and Mimi Abendstern.
Thanks to all of you for some of the most funny moments, conversations, lots of Lalafell noises or for letting me learn new stuff without flipping out because I wasn't doing it right at first
Thank you Vivi for always still greeting me when we meet even if others have forgotten me.
I hope I can meet all of you again in ARR, especially the ones who ended up on a different server or who are rarely in FFXIV because they are not happy with it yet.
Hmm, I have done many memories with friends, recorded videos of linkshell and others and more through the journey of 2 years. I guess my cloest of friends would be this picture here, before i transfered server from fabul to Aegis.
ANd then met a very true friend in Aegis and made a video with her at the same time putting every element of my journey and friendship in it. ;p.

It doesn't end there. as we move to 2.0, more friends and more adentures will unfold.

Most elleqently put good sir! This thread is both touching and hilarious!
The OP really captures the spirit of this Final Fantasy title, I can't wait to read/see more.
I don't have much but..
Iron Chef Dei Gratia - Thanks for being part of my journey; glad you're here.
And of course...:
To all the fantastic people that I've assisted, or that have a assited me and said:
"You're one of the best WHMs I've ever played with." - "Damn, Arista is good."
Yeah, I know. ='¬'=
I will now copy you
The the Entirety of FFXIVSocial LS
You all rule! Seriously, you have made the last few months most enjoyable and memorable. I can't wait to explore ARR with all of you and tackle all the new content. We are still a young LS but I could not ask for better members. You never let Teamspeak get boring and you push me to be better, or sleep deprived, or something like that.
The LS Garuda crew!
Hard work, perseverance, lots of Elixirs, Food, Repairs and resets we pulled off some great wins. Dei Gratia, Metyn Aurea, Xyla Ndra, Kazuhira Jaeger, Ryuuji Ryuu, Nonori Rereyl, Taeli Aeithsura, Oni Sesshomaru, and the fill-ins we had, Markus Aurelius and Hlessali Runari (AKA The Meteor Queen) we could not have done it without any of you! All I gots to say is "WHERE MAH BAAAARD BUFFS MON!?"
To others:
Arista Hortensia, Aequitas Safeguard and War Warlocks Gridania
Had some great attempts at Raven Hard, may not have gotten that sexy earring but we all had fun being pummeled by VD repeatedly. You guys are solid and never relent, that is key to success! Everything we get involved in goes well and I hope to see you guys on the other side of the time warp.
Tony Dincht - Got my first Garuda win thanks to you and your group. Was a great time and Like Arista, a WHM can never hear "You're one of the best WHMs I've ever played with." too many times ^^
I even had some fun times with those CASUALS from Evil and Almost Evil. Though I hear they felt I was too hardcore with my MNKs 100-broken-fist style agains Miser.
These were my most recent memories and for those who know me, know recent memory is pretty much all I have...
For those cats from back in the day I'm glad I still see your names running around Uldah.
