Cloned players with weird names?

Hello, all!

I was levequesting in La Noscea, and a few times already I've seen groups of cloned players, where all of them had exactly the same looks and equipment, not moving, with weird names like "rntgpt nngff" and whatnot. There will always be one different-looking character running from the group to an area spawning groups of enemies, then running back to the cloned group. What are they doing?

I apologize, but I'm quite a noob at the game. But I'm pretty sure they're doing more than just "playing the game", and I have no idea what "rmt" means. Could you please be more helpful, or refrain from commenting?

RMT stands for real-money traders. These people grind to gain tons of Gil, so that they can then sell the Gil for real money.

Report them if you can. SE does try to ban these guys, but they just keep coming back.

In this case it's only half true. Keep in mind we are getting character resets come ARR. More than likely we will also be able to change our names. We are changing our looks, and we may decide to change our online identities to match our new looks. etc. etc.

so while they can farm gil now, the real payoff will be when ARR launches. as they have 40+ accounts that have several level 50s they can sell and probably have legacy status as well. not only that anyone you play with won't really know you bought the account due to the name change. the entire system is changing so even if you play poorly you can blame the new learning curve. It's fairly genius in an evil sort of way. :/
