Char creation disappointment?

They did. They also stated that all options are not available in the alpha test, but would be later.

I'm really glad about the new options and I hope they add more down the road.

I just wish they'd have shown Moonkeepers! Very curious to know if they added more variety of skin colours as currently they're all very simillar. (And from what I see of Sunseekers, it seems to be basically what we have now)

Nothing to be disappointed about it really unless you made the mistake of comparing the creator to other game's rather than realizing that they did say it will be revamped but they no way stated it will have a ton of options. The only "new hairs" would most likely be the old concept of using other race's hairstyles on a different one that never got implemented.

No offense here, but I really hope the developers don't get hung up on this sort of thing. It's like every piece of information that comes out of ARR results in the most nitpicking suggestions from some people in the community.

So they can implemented the "hundreds of hairstyles!" I guarantee they made a sacrifice to something in order to appease someone that will only care for their hair selection for a day before no longer noticing it while playing.

What is needed is differentiation between characters. The best way to attain this is to simply have more options for the most noticeable features of characters. I think Race and Hairstyle are probably the most distinguishing features of a character, and because it requires so much more to develop a race it is simply better to pour those resources into hairstyles. So, Square Enix has said they were going to develop more, how much more though? I did like to see all the options for voices, that is a huge bonus. An increase in face types/features(not tattoos, but actual shapes of facial features) would go a long way.

Really now? Seriously no matter what The Devs do there is always 1 or more who just want to complain or what have you. This is what The Devs get for listening to the community err shall we say a small portion of the comunity. Dev's just stop and develop the game the way you see fit and stop trying to cater to this group or that group and just do your job with out interference from a small population. Its great to give suggestions and its great when they are used but the Devs need to make the game and not try to please everyone who has something they want, request or demand added in.

Ill be honest I really dont think 2.0 will survive beyond 1 year. I will give it a try but the direction Yoshi is taking the game is not something I am looking forward too. The fact is instead of going above and beyond like SE use to they are just shooting for a standard MMO and we all know there are plenty out there. Some players say this a new generation of MMO's but in fact its not about being the 2nd generation MMO its all about give it to me now, dont wanna work for anything or have competition, it comes down to players just wanting everything NOW, w/o any of the long term goals, w/o any work, these players just want everything handed to them. All in all I am not impressed with what they have done and lets not forget they could have done things much much better.

It is completely true Yoshi and the CEO continue to under-estimate the players base. What Yoshi and the CEO are trying to do is make a fast buck nothing more nothing less. The fact is they dont care about you its about money so they are just giving players anything they ask for at this point. Its all smoke and mirrors but yet a majority of the players are blinded and belive otherwise. The current change is for the worst in the long run. I have said it before and Ill say it again under Yoshi's leadership I give XIV 1 year and thats it. The fact remains that the CEO of SE screwed up and Tanaka took the blame, because they didnt give Tanaka the tools or time to complete XIV. All in all they decided to bring in a lead that dosent even know much or play much of the companies own FF series, and thats plain stupid. This is my opinion I dont care if you agree or not, as you are entitled to your opinions so am I. Tanaka had a vision, if he would have been allowed to finish it, but Yoshi has no vision. With Yoshi its just fan-service and a chance to try and make a name for himself.

Well seeing you wanna start. Read between the lines, the fact is this is just another way to cater to 1 group shall we say, and I am against it. You people bitch and bitch just to make this game your way and caters to what you want, and screw other player types. My opinion still stands as long as the devs cater to who they are catering to. This thread is yet another example of players asking, demanding or bitching about what they want, than of course after they get it it still wont be enough and they leave.

Don't forget, Yoshi said that he plans to introduce a way to change your hair in-game (NPC barber or something of the sort)

So even if there aren't more hairstyles by ARR launch, they can certainly introduce more later and you will be able to change it then~
