Not a whole lot different than what we have now, just "cleaner" looking. Can only hope Alpha -> Retail produces more options. I did like the ability to preview AF. Carrot on a stick for the newbies.
I like this character creation~ its all good but i want more faces & hair styles~
Good Job .

I find it amusing that some people call sliders or using a RGB palette "advanced features" or "complicated". Games like PSO had sliders, and that was in 2001... This is by no mean "complicated".
And as Soukyuu said, it's all about picking the right min/max range for every sliders or simply restricting certain colours to avoid ending up with players having Fluorescent Green hairs and disproportioned bodies.
I like the style of the new character creator beside that.
Antipika.

I don't think we should assume unless SE confirm this. Remember how we assumed a lot of stuff during 1.0 beta?
Anyway, looking good!
The system behind it is complicated, not the sliders themselves. Heck, just the number values behind the sliders would significantly increase the bandwidth load and processing needed when in cities etc, to mention one thing. APB had significant memory leak issues and other related stuff because of the amount of customization values you had to download and keep in your memory just by entering an instance. 64-bit setups became mandatory to even be able to play.I find it amusing that some people call sliders or using a RGB palette "advanced features" or "complicated". Sliders and more "advanced" customization options are nothing you add as an afterthought. Especially not if you aspire to release the game on a current gen console.
My 2 Gil on the video:
I think the color selection is fine the way it is, there are a nice choice of colors that remain consistent with the games art style.
I'm sure there will be more hair styles, faces, and facial features to select, most likely in the final version of the game (I hope). But no doubt the character creation menu can improve further with more options for the features they have listed. Also, an ability to be "fat" or at least, chubby would be nice. Seems like everyone in the world of Eorzea is a super model ;P Either way, the Alpha version of character creation looks pretty solid. Great work Square ! Take the feedback from these posts on this thread seriously. They will help ensure to promote a more robust character creator. You're almost there Square ! I'm cheering for you !
There is a girl out there somewhere in this world that watched this video and going...
"I just wanted bigger boobs at least in a fantasy land... why did god give me these small.... and now the dev gods... (orz)..."
And of course there are guys also going...
"Big boobies... you... call... that... big!?!?... WHY!? What have I done wrong to deserve these!! (orz) why!!... (still chooses female char and clicks OK)"
==========================================
Anyways joke aside overall expression of the character make (alpha ver) I think it's done really well only part I'm concerned is say when you choose a category to edit does the camera automatically pan & zoom to that said position or was this done manually in the video where the player had to move the camera him/herself to the position to see the changes.
Some changes are really hard to notice but for fine tuning for those people really going after character details this is nice. Use of slider would be nice but would also make it harder for SE to control from players making weird character they don't want to be seen in game, so I think this method is alright.

SO cool to see the AF/relic when picking a job. I think this will please new players a lot ... but I also think we'll see waaay more Lancers in ARR (for good or ill) ^^
Love the video, thank you, much appreciated, zero complaints, can't wait to see more.
This is exactly what I've been talking about. Detailed videos where you can actually see how things work, properly. I personally love the way it looks, and can't wait to see the new options.
